Tonight, I'll add an Affinity option in the program so that you can use =
your HT.
Affinity is the 'normal' way to force the program to run on a specified =
processor.
(It's very easy to add).
Losing some computations is not very important, as long as your computer =
still works !

Subject: [Magictour] Hyper Threading Sucks!
Hey all,
I had to once again stop computing with two clients and return to one =
client with HT disabled. The reason behind this is simple, with two =
clients and the HT enabled, each client was suppose to use 50% of the =
CPU but this didn't happen, each one was using about 30%. I went into =
my CMOS, disabled Hyper Threading, restarted the system and, only ran =
one client. The current client is using 99% or 100% of the client at =
all times, I would rather search one tour at a time and do it a lot =
faster then search several at a much slower rate. This way you guys can =
see results a lot faster.
Also, my system crashed yesterday and the recovery console told me it =
was because of MagicTour.exe. All work that was performed in the last =
30 hours or so was lost when the system crashed because it couldn't save =
anything. When I restarted the system, the client outputted a =
solution.txt file and listed all its ranges but with 0000's. Weird! The =
client also told me that it had computed all its ranges.
I'll keep you all posted!
Cheers,
Hugues Mackay
