In theory, right clicking on the "My Computer" icon, then properties =
should display all informations, but on my Windows 2000 computer, it =
just displays the processor and RAM (at my job: AMD Athlon XP 1900+, 1Gb =
RAM).
In fact, in MagicTour, I removed the display of the processor speed =
(I'll add it again in a next version).
BTW, if you want to compute something new, I recommend that you =
download:
http://magictour.free.fr/MagicTorus.zip
(The EXE in the ZIP file is called MagicTour.exe, but it's really =
MagicTorus.exe).
This program will search for magic torus on 6x6 boards.
Gunter tried to explore a1-b3, but it seems that it's much slower than =
expected ! It's an order of magnitude slower than 8x8 magic tour.
If you are interested to compute something, simply ask Gunter what tour =
you want to compute (sorry, I don't have a list, but I know there is =
a1-a2,a1-b3 and several others).
You can enter the tour by opening the program, then type Ctrl-N, and =
enter its name (like a1-a2) or its number (like 0 or 1), then press =
ENTER.
The computation starts immediately.
Typing Ctrl-S shows you a list of the queued tours.
The program runs at idle priority, that means that your PC won't be slow =
down, BUT it has no save ability, this means that you have to keep your =
computer powered on during the whole computation (and it can take quite =
a long time !).
BTW, Hugues posted his last results.
0 new tour
26881998696228 total nodes
56.617647% complete
Finally, I'm investigating a way to put the archives of this mailing =
list online.

I've looked at the magictour.free.fr site several times to check how =
the search is progressing. It says that to participate you need to have =
a fast computer >2GHz. This will probably sound stupid to you lot but =
how do I find out what "speed" my computer works at. I looked in the =
Control Panel under System and it doesn't seem to say!

I will remove that. Everone can participate, if he wants to complete =
one range.
The speed is displayed on bootup, on my computer at least.
I can also write a small program to calculate this.
There is probably also a method to find it out with some mouseclicks
on Windows or Linux. Someone else can tell ?
