Forum: Attention Minnesotans

Hi everyone.

In the topic I started a few days ago (“Surviving the Pandemic Alone”), tjclaw1 gave me an especially useful idea: I could perhaps find a family who’s preparing for the pandemic and serve as a nanny in exchange for helping them take care of kids, keep safe & clean, etc.

So…I can’t think of a better place to start my quest. Are there any Minnesotans on this forum (preferably in the vicinity of the Twin Cities, but really anywhere, even some of the neighboring states!) who would like to have a low-maintenance, responsible college student join them to help out around the house during the potential pandemic? I’m a fairly good cook, I can entertain myself (and kids!), and I have enough common sense/knowledge to help in emergency situations. I also have a decent amount of knowledge about health, nutrition, alternative & homeopathic medication, etc. Also, I am studying to become an English teacher, so I’d be more than happy to help out with any home-schooling if necessary.

So if you don’t mind having an extra member of the family during the pandemic, get in touch!

P.S. I apologize if this is an inappropriate place for this query.

Glad you liked the idea Neon. Sounds like you’re a very responsible young lady, and I’m sure you’d be great. Too bad you live so far from us! Coincidintally, my hubby is an English professor at a community college here in Illinois (in his 15th year). There are various nanny services you might look into. My boss’s daughter was a nanny for a while and they even paid her college tuition and provided her with a car. Pretty sweet deal.

Hmm, yeah, I’ll look into nanny services, see what I can find. Meanwhile, there must be hundreds of flu pandemic discussion forums, right? Well, OK, maybe not hundreds, but are there any other good ones that you know of? I’ll keep on searching.

Thank you!

Just be careful….check into everything before actually meeting someone.

I agree with anonymous - be careful and make sure you check out the peoples’ credentials before making a commitment or agreeing to meet with them.

I wanted to bump this up to the top because there are a lot of new folks here. Minnesotans? Wisconsinites even? Hell, I’ll go to SD, IA, IL, CANADA. In fact, honestly, I would go further than that even if I found a group of well-prepared, sensible, trustworthy, people with whom I could hunker down. And just about everybody I’ve encountered here is well prepared and respectable, so please, if you have room for one more (a competent, level-headed, health-conscious college student!) do let me know. I’ll talk to DemfromCT to figure out the securest way to exchange e-mails or whatever.

Thanks.

Addendum: I’m not really looking for any particular set-up. A family or a group of friends or couples or whatever…I can certainly adapt to all kinds of living situations.
