Hi NJ Preppie and Kansas. I am originally from Texas…been here in Kansas for about 12 yrs now.
I am so glad to see someone else from Kansas. I am in a small rural town and have had to be careful to whom I speak with about pandemic preparedness, for fear I would cause my family to be labeled as “the crazies on the corner.” I don’t think my daughter would ever forgive me should that happen…haha!
It is wonderful to come here to the Wiki to feel the sense of community.
I’m an hour from Topeka, about one minute over the state line into Missouri. Spend a lot of time prepping in Kansas! Nice to “meet” you all…

Hello. I have been prepping for a couple of months now, buying a bit extra each time I go to the store. It makes me feel better knowing I have supplies on hand. You never know about severe weather around here as well. I check the site daily but have never posted before.

Jayhawk-lots of us in Missouri, not that far. Suggest you make drive into KC for the good sales, etc. (For general education “Kansas City” is mostly in Missouri. Unfortunate naming as far as keeping geaography straight, I know, but sounds better than Possum Trot). By the way, a lot of folks do drive over to KS to Cabellas-have heard rumours that some get lost in there for days at a time(!).
We were in KC last weekend, but I was very disappointed that I had no time to shop. Hopefully, we will be able to return in April and have time to look for some bargains. I would love to get lost in Cabela’s!

Thank you! I am new here, but currently panicked over BF. I have just started to prep, and we are on a tight budget….I hope I’m not too late. I have 2 young children (1 and 4), but live with my mom, hubby, and siblings….8 people total. Do you all think that smaller KS towns won’t be hit as hard as bigger cities?
