A few weeks back, one of you (Eccles? Monotreme?) suggested talking to cab drivers. I take a lot of cabs and most of the drivers aren’t very chatty or don’t have much English (I’m in the US). Well, tonight I got a chatty one who wanted to know what I did. I told him about my job and Flu Wiki. He wanted to know everything I could tell him and was nearly as well informed as the denizens of the forum. We will soon have a new visitor (who is already prepping.)
What a great idea..
I will be adding a link to the site in all my emails.. (can’t hurt to spread the word).
OK people, we know the govt. won’t be able to come to our rescue, so it’s time to shoulder the load. This will cost some personal cash but needs to be done.
Go to pandemicflu.gov and print out the various checklists.
Get the school checklist and take it directly to the pricipal of the school in your area. Be sure to include the fluwiki site as well. School board members also.
Get the hospital checklist and take it to the Hospital Administrator. (medical people help me out if this should go to someone else)
Do similar with other checklists. I realize we can’t do the buisness one to all buisnesses but maybe you could get it to your own employer.
Get the community checklist to your mayaor. At the same time you can find out what is being done. You may even volunteer to help.
The money and time will be well spent.
I thought about printing out the checklists, but was afraid. Now I see other preppers saying the time has come. And now I fear the transition.
From Prepper, to Evangelist.
I wonder if Paul Revere felt fear as he got on that horse bound for Concord.
Or if he just felt a sense of duty. To spread the word.
I do it when I feel the people are receptive and the moment is appropriate. Never a silver platter, people only appreciate what they work for. Its a computor generation, they want it fast, they want it now, and they want you to guarentee it will happen and they are not wasting their time and their money. So, I only waste my time on the receptive.
It may not be a waste on the unreceptive. The next time they see a flu story on the news, they may sit up and pay attention because of what that lunatic (in their eyes) tried to tell them.
Actually Paul Revere was probably pooing in his pants. He completely disobeyed his orders on that “famous” ride. He was supposed to get the info to a few people that needed to know, he was NEVER supposed to ride through like an hysterical school girl screaming, “the British are coming, the British are coming!”
Not sure if he is the best example or not. Hard to say. He disobeyed orders, but in the end people came out and were aware of the impending attack. Hmmmm….. Maybe we need to hope there are a couple “hysterical schoolgirls” in the WHO!!
I tell the people that I encounter daily, “When you start to see stuff on TV about the bird flu, and you have questions, come ask me” otherwise, I just leave them alone.
I also ask the people who are receptive to pass it on to anyone they are close to who is receptive. No, I won’t waste my breath. In my family we had what we called the annual Winkie award, named after someone. Namely a word to Winkie and you’ve wasted your breath. I guess that stuck with me. very good object lesson.

Posting exactly the same message in half a dozen different threads is considered spamming. I’m deleting the rest of those posts.
On second thought, since you won’t stop I’m taking them all out and blocking the domain.
