Any other college/university student lurkers or newbies around here? What kind of program are you in (grad/undergrad? law? humanities?) and what will you do if TSHTF? Are you living with roommates currently and planning to SIP together? Will you get your own place?
If you’re a college student newbie, introduce yourself here, I’d like to hear from ya! I think there are a couple of others my age here on the wiki who are regular posters. Some of our translators, too.
4th year vet med student - focusing on zoonoses in wildlife, ecosystem health, public health. If TSHTF, I’ll probably just laugh (rather morbid sense of humour here). I have no money, nothing even close to a permanent residence, and no way at all to prep, and to be completely honest, since I don’t know if and when a pandemic is going to happen, it makes no sense for me to be investing in prepping. If TSHTF I’ll probably be involved in culling poultry stocks, so I’ll just ride it out and see what happens.
hey wanderer, good to meet ya (though I think I’ve seen a couple of your posts around here). were you the one interested in nomad prepping? (the handle). Yeah, sounds like you’ll be in the eye of the storm if TSHTF owing to your research area.
I’m in the same boat re: not having a permanent residence. It’s hard to think about next to some of the folks here with homes in places that sound so luxurious and secluded! easy to be envious. Well, maybe mobility will be a good thing. I should take a closer look at the nomad thread, actually…
do you know if your university/program has any plan in place in case TSHTF? will your program just be “suspended” and your status remain intact?
I’ll be starting a PhD program and hope that if TSHTF I’ll be able to continue from where I left off once thigns clear up. Nothing like investing so much money and time to have to go through the lovely process all over again.
If TSHTF we’ll all be expected to help out, I think - we’re definitely more at the animal end than the human end of this issue, but we’ll probably be taking care of the poultry flocks in the surrounding area. I don’t know what will happen to my program - I’m going into my last year which is all practical, so if we get called away to do something I’ll just chalk it up to educational experience.
