Wow, I missed alot of good discussion with my email down this week! There are some who didn’t understand how living in an apartment is different than a house for this situation. Ricewiki enummerated alot of the reasons, here is another. Is it tedious to go back to that subject? The neighbors below you can often tell if you are home. If you are not lucky, it could mean trouble if the SHTHF. I live in an old house turned years ago into apartments (common arrangement around here). The floors are very thin, at times I can hear Conversation from below me (amongst other things…;-) unfortunately.) Living below me now are new neighbors, A couple…and the man is a big burly guy. Am attempting to cultivate a relationship…to be friendly, but also knowing that it serves me and I am vulnerable. I am glad that these nice-seeming people live below me because there is another person in the house who I find kind of territorial and a bit of a bully even on a good day (his behavior around our commonly shared resources…driveway, basement, yard etc has been really entitled). If I would go out for any reason during my SIP, he would know as his LR is next to the front door and he kind of monitors things from there as it is. He would know my apartment was empty. During a pandemic this guy would take, I have a feeling, anything of mine he could get his hands on. So I guess I just vented/explained one of Ricewiki’s reasons why SIP in an apartment has additional or unique issues to confront. I would much prefer having my own front door, my own land, and distance from this man. I can’t control sharing space and resources with him (ie will he let me put up a tarp in the backyard to collect water? If I put a propane tank out will he empty it? When I go out he’ll see me in a mask and know I have them…not good!) sorry for the rant if this is one.

we need some official rating to measure the panflu-usefulness of appartments.
We need companies to improve that rating for payment. This includes selling items like masks etc. and providing lists of what else to do.
Before you want to rent an appartment then, you can ask for its rating first ! And also rate your neighbors ;-) And make your own personal panflu-rating public on your door-plate and internet. (0:pandemic won’t occur, any preparation refused
1:,…,n,..,100
n:an estimated n% of the population are worse prepared than you
I guess the average fluwikian is 90

Just had an idea that I want to share. When in SIP, I will not pick up any phone call from my land line, only the mobile phones will be answered. From a mobile phone, you can say that you are sheltering in another location, far away. I just dread the moment friends will phone to ask for my meds for their sick children. Lots of people that I have tried to convince to prep know or suspect that I have a well-stocked home pharmacy.
