your summary of patients and details of events, helps give validity to what the Indo Team has been doing with such diligence. I had been trying to keep up with that, but now I seem to have gotten off on another project.

Please post your summaries also, so we have the opportunity to look at data from 2 different perspectives. Michelle does an amazing job of clarifying information. Pugmom, Commonground, Influentia2, Okie, a a few of the other “moms” have an incredible ability in locating, and translating news from foriegn newpapers.

Your accounts and reporting of the information gives both credibility.

 Thank you

raina at 16:49 of the prior thread… Fantastic summary!

Thanks to all for the words of encouragement. I plan to forward the spreadsheet to Dude and Okieman for posting this evening, and Okieman plans to do a new map tonight for cases which surfaced during the last 10 days.

Commonground – at 19:56

Thanks Anon-451 - I needed a pat on the back…..thanks everyone, I appreciate it.

raina at 16:49:

I have Amos Gugun Gunawan (19) (Bandung) hospitalized on 9/28. Does anyone else have this person hospitalized???

Michelle in OK – at 20:14

Commonground at 20:02… I never saw an article which indicated that Amas was 19 years old. I did show that Amas was hospitalized, and I show that the General was also called Amah. In order to match the hospital records of 3 being treated, I assumed that Amas was the same as the General.

The only information I saw on Gugun Gunawan (19) indicated that he had symptoms but was at home. I hope this helps. I could have misinterpreted the reports or missed something.

Commonground – at 20:34

Michelle in OK - at 20:14:

I found it! Over at FT, Bandung Cluster W. Java Thread, Post # 76. I guess when they said “brought to the Community Center”, I interpreted it as hospitalized. Here it is:

“They were Gugun Gunawan (19) that claimed experienced hot since the last four days, Hani (21) that felt very stiff, and Santi (20) that suffered pilek, the cough, and the fever.

But, the three of them were not given Tamiflu. “Only was given normal medicine and was brought to the community health centre. Further will be monitored by us for 20 days in the future,” said Wawan Setiawan, the official surveilans the Health Service of the Bandung City.”

pugmom – at 20:36

Michelle—somewhere in all these posts today we proved that Amas=Amos=Gugun=Ganawan=Useful and is a 19 yo. male neighbor. The General is a female named Amah age 41, but also from Bandung. CG may have it better cataloged than I, she can correct me, or Raina too.

pugmom – at 20:40

Cg at 20:34--I remember reading that Gugan, the neighbor, was scared to death and staying very “quietly’ in his own home and was hoping to get the special medicine. Apparently he is not so bad that he will check himself into the hospital. But you had the sense he sure knew the risk, and was just going to wait it out. BTW—Who the heck is Hani?

Edna Mode – at 20:55

On the earlier thread, someone made a comment about people being blase about the state of affairs in Indonesia. I understand that comment perfectly, as I’ve been wondering about it myself. But I think Okieman hit the nail on the head. I think people are resigned to the fact that this thing is happening, and many are engaged in watchful waiting.

I used to hang on every nuance of translation, but about a couple of weeks ago, I had a transformation/realization. As August progressed, it became clear to me that Indo is out of control, and god knows what’s happening in China. I shifted from hanging on details to a sense of resignation. I have been finalizing preps and checking in here to see when we have positive HCWs, classmates, and more/larger clusters—which we may be seeing at this point.

The details of the various clusters are (as you all know) very confusing, and all of you who hunt the news, sift the details, and prepare the summaries do an excellent job.

Aside from the fact that I don’t feel I have enough of a handle on the confusing details to comment intelligently, there are really no words to convey the growing, sickening sense of inevitability I think a lot of us have been coming to terms with since August.

Michelle in OK – at 20:59

Thanks pugmom and CG… I’ve corrected my spreadsheet to show Amas as the correct person. The one that is posted dated 9–29 has already been sent though, so it will not show the correction.

Green Mom – at 22:09

I’m with Edna Mode on this. What is there to say now? I am very grateful to everyone for doing all this hard work. I follow this thread closely, but like EM I have gone from hanging on to the details to a sense of resignation. Very similar to when my MIL was diagnosed with ALS. At first we didn’t know what it was-we followed every symtom, hung on to every word that docs said maybe its this, maybe its that. After a while it sinks in and your just left with this really sickening numb feeling.

Goju – at 22:23

very pessimistic folks.

INFOMASS – at 22:23

On the PPF Part IV thread I posted today around 3 pm relating a report from a good friend who met a high ranking Indonesian government person recently. The bottom line: Different parts of the government find it hard to cooperate. Birdflu will not get real priority emergency attention until it is too late. Dr. Nabarro is right that a lot is under-reported. There are not enough resources or direction or coordination. We are right to be very concerned.

Let me tip my hat to those of you working so hard on this. It is a real contribution and we owe you thanks. If it seems like things are not under control, it is because they are not.

sorry Green mom about the diagnosis. Very rough.

Orlandopreppie – at 22:26

GreenMom, and all…I’ve been reluctant to post here since I had to pull out of my offer to help…the guilt was heavy but I wanted to comment that “really sickening numb feeling” is EXACTLY what I’ve been feeling. It’s constant, and I have the same quiet resignation to prep. I’ve had to accept that I probably don’t have time to prepare as much as others, and I’ll just have to make due on the four months we have. I am making use of every spare dollar in every paycheck for something on my list. I was truly hoping for another year.

JWB – at 23:44

Orlandopreppie

You HAVE another year. You have it because you are 99.99999% ahead of the rest of the population of the planet.

If I could physically smack you guys, I WOULD!

Michelle in OK – at 23:50

Orlandopreppie at 22:26… no need to feel guilty for other duties. Please post anytime… and keep prepping.

The summary will look a little odd compared to last night. I had incorrectly interpreted a report on the Medan family to mean that 1 of the 3 hospitalized had died (which obviously isn’t the case since a report today said they are all improving.) I’m very glad, as the family has suffered much already. My apologies for the miscount last night. Also, I deleted the count of E(25) as a separate person, as the consensus seems to be that various ages have been stated for Eni.

Thanks for bringing the thread back to reality.

Green Mom – at 00:26

Orlando Preppie- please don’t feel guilty-everybody does what they can and everybody has stuff that they need to do off the wiki. I know what you mean about hoping for more time. My finances are tight too, and I agonize and prioritize over every item on my list.

PugMom-Thanks for your kind words. My Mil passed away a couple of years ago-fortunantly, we were able to take care of her at home with the help of Hospice. But that experience has also driven home how extreamly hard it is to care for a patient at home, and that really worries me because most folks have absolutly no idea what they are up against in this regard.

Sorry to sound so pessimistic and bleak but the news has just not been good. On a more cheerful note, I do feel a little better about the odds of fluwikians getting through this, but its still gonna be a rough time ahead.

FloridaGirlat 01:05

Green Mom,

I offer only words of encouragement for your loss. My brother-in law also died from ALS. He stayed home for those six years.

Believe it or not, after the grief fades, you will realize you developed an inner strength, not many will understand.

Nevertheless till at this time results of the research into Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) the virus that generally was spread by this poultry showed that the virus that infected all the patients in Indonesia was the kind of the influenza virus that spread from the poultry to humankind. The researchers beforehand also said that till at this time the change or the significant mutation in this virus that enabled the occurrence of the spread of the virus between humankind did not yet happen. The inter-member spread of the family that happened to almost all the cases klaster in Indonesia was estimated happened because of the equality susceptibilitas or the sensitivity of the peer of the family’s member towards the infection.

CG from WHO website

Avian influenza – situation in Indonesia – update 21

4 July 2006

The Ministry of Health in Indonesia has confirmed the country’s 52nd case of human infection with the H5N1 avian influenza virus.

The case, which was fatal, occurred in a 5-year-old boy from Tulungagung district, East Java Province. The boy became ill on 8 June, was hospitalized on 14 June and died two days later on 16 June.

You can google these names and find discussions from June regarding the case you are talking about having different names, ages but the location is the same. I don’t know if anyone ever figured out if Nur Praise and Tyo Praise was one and the same. WHO knows:) I gave up on this one awhile back and just moved on to the next one. If someone knows by now set me straight.

Anyway good morning CG.

CG 16:50 They casualties’s neighbour was killed that was stated positive bird flu, Tio Setiyaning Praise, 5, villagers Sukoharjo, the Bandung Subdistrict

from jawapos.com July 22 in my old files. This is when they had tested nine others then that had contact with Tio. IMHO opinion not worth much, I think Tio is an old WHO confirmed case. Well clear as mud. Time for me to be productive and get some work done around here and some further prepping. That is something I can do something about. Catch up with you and Pugmom later today.

pugmom – at 08:07

Influentia2; I wonder who they are referring to here: “In the Makassar territory, bird flu has claimed the life of a child who lived in Street Maccini. Casualties died, in September” see post at 06:25 The only Sept admissions we have are Hendra and Sahrul. Hendra was 10 yo. We heard nothing back on them Also very scarey to again hear about people fleeing their homes for the hills in Tasikmalaya (post at 02:04). They did the same thing several weeks ago in Lower Rumoong, and again, we never heard how that played out. I wonder about them every day, but when google it, just get a dead end. The local people are very frightened, to pick up and leave and go somewhere where there may be no protection from the upcoming rains and no certain food, etc. It must be chaos over there. Can you imagine if the same thing would happen in Jakarta, for example? It is our equivalent of “bugging out.”

Influentia2 – at 08:09

CG 7:45 Getting to be too many suspect cases and unnamed sickness with too many names for me to keep straight. That is why I am going to get somethings done I need to get done today. Too many to chase down, I need a break so I will catch up to you and Pugmom later, I am becoming burnt out and I know it. Right now I need to focus on the homefront, Indonesia is on their own for today, she’s a big girl. I will check in later, have a good one, try to enjoy your day and have some fun. I am.

BTW, you are doing such a great job at keeping all this straight and getting me and others informed, you have saved me so much time on this I cannot thank you and everyone else enough, don’t give up but please do have some fun. What will be will be.

Goju – at 22:23 very pessimistic folks.

Goju, What’s pessimistic? That we are resigned to the fact that the H5N1 situation is out of control at this point, and that it almost assuredly is moving toward a pandemic influenza strain? I think the concensus here is that that position is realistic, not pessimistic. If not that, please tell us what you think we are being pessimistic about.

Morning all-Its a gorgous day here and I’m going to try NOT to be so glum. I’ll take Influenza2′s advice and try to have some fun.

FloridaGirl at 1:05- I’m sorry about your BIL. Als is a horrific disease, but you are right, I do feel more of an inner strength. That will come in handy dealy with this flu.

CG-Lab tech being out sick sounds rather ominous. Of course, could be anything, infected ingrown toenail, hangover, “friday fever” still…. dosn’t sound good.

CG at 8:10 “The citizen has reported the incident kepda the official of Makassar City Livestock Breeding of the Service, but did not yet have the official who came to check these chickens so as finally they decided to destroy him.”

I’m assuming that it was the CHICKEN that was destroyed, not the OFFICIAL. Still, its a thought when officials drag their feet……

Main Entry: pes·si·mism Pronunciation: ‘pe-s&-“mi-z&m Function: noun Etymology: French pessimisme, from Latin pessimus worst — more at PEJORATIVE 1 : an inclination to emphasize adverse aspects, conditions, and possibilities or to expect the worst possible outcome 2 a : the doctrine that reality is essentially evil b : the doctrine that evil overbalances happiness in life - pes·si·mist /-mist/ noun

It is somewhat alarming that the mood here has gone from watchful waiting to resignation.

while we all sort of knew this monster was coming, there was that little place in the deep recesses of our minds that “they” were right… that “it” would go away or get real mild.

It looks like we are past that point.

I have received amazing acceptance from everyone i have spoken with, from City Hall, the media, the business community, my own doctor (she didnt argue this time) down to the individual over the last few weeks - THAT is scary!

Edna Mode – at 09:39

Yes, Goju, and that little place in the deep recesses of our minds has finally, for many of us, come to terms with reality. Pessimism to me connotes giving up. I am not, nor do I think anyone here, is giving up at all. We are just staring the beast in the eye with a new sense of resoluteness born of realism.

Main Entry: re·al·ism Pronunciation: ‘rE-&-“li-z&m Function: noun 1 : concern for fact or reality and rejection of the impractical and visionary 2 a : a doctrine that universals exist outside the mind; specifically : the conception that an abstract term names an independent and unitary reality b : a theory that objects of sense perception or cognition exist independently of the mind — compare NOMINALISM 3 : the theory or practice of fidelity in art and literature to nature or to real life and to accurate representation without idealization

When the poltury became infected, and millions of chickens were being culled, and villagers got sick from the infected birds, I don’t recall villagers moving their children in panic to a safer place. After all, this has been going on for quiet some time know, and people have been taken ill or died because of the infected poultry. I don’t recall the news reporting the villagers panicking, until now. They didn’t seem to be too concerned about getting ill from chickens, but now their “running for the hills”. Something has them very spooked! I wish we knew what they know.(since they are closer to the source).

It doesn’t sound to me like they are running from infected chickens. Chickens have been dying all around them for a long time. These people depend on their poulty. Until we get more coherent news from these people, we are left to guess, and try to fill in the blanks.

They are going to eat the dead goats because they are being told that this is a “bird flu.” That is just too much meat for these people to waste, in their minds.

Okieman – at 13:09

Dem, thanks for posting the map.

Pixie – at 13:02

I agree. I would not of thought goats were a risk either until recently. Although I would never eat something that died of natural causes (ie- sickness of some kind). But, I am not in their shoes, and if I were hungry would probably do the same.

Note to self: Kill and preserve all ruminants before pandemic, not during.

Pixie – at 13:15

Niman has been saying for at least a year that this virus would attack other animals, specifically mammals. The cats, the goats, the pigs - they can all be transmittors and mixing vessels too.

If it is virulent enough to kill these animals outright now, their entire food supply is at risk. Yes, people in these nations do quickly eat many animals that die because there is need to, and until H5N1 it was most likely considered to be a non-risky practice as long as the food was prepared properly. This happened in Turkey, too, but now we are talking about very valuable goats, and maybe prize pigs too. And the cats run wild.

Nabarro has begun calling this “an animal and human pandemic.” I hope they get this message out to these people via FAO, OIE, etc.

We also have cats and dogs, now goats-I’m getting depressed. this virus is turning into a monster.

FrenchieGirlat 15:48

Pugmom at 09:22 - Newcastle Disease? Well since humans do not, so far as I know, catch ND, then how come there are sick humans next to poultry that died of ND? I mean, it could, of course, be any ordinary flu, but can the chickens be infected by both ND and BF at the same time? What would happen to the “rapid test”? Do they test simultaneously for both, or for ND first, and once it’s found to be ND, then no further testing of the same chickens? Indonesia has not reported any ND to OIE in 2006 and 2005, though they declared some in 2004, 2002 and previous years.

As for the three patients suspect bird flu that underwent the maintenance in RSHS Bandung was Int (15), San (18) and NY General (41). “The three of them were expected strong the bird flu negative.” Int has been checked by as many as three times and results of the negative, now San results of the first inspection the negative, and NY General did not point out the sign of bird flu. On Sunday, October 01 2006 Eni Tertular Unggas Casualties Bird Flu that Currently is treated in RSU Dr Soetomo

 TULUNGAGUNG

- Eni Wulandari, 25, villagers Kaligentong, the Pucanglaban Subdistrict, that positive bird flu not the reason tertular from Abram, his full brother. However casualties terjangkir the virus avian influenza (AI) the reason tertular from the available poultry in his environment. The statement was revealed Kasubdin the Prevention and the Eradication of the Illness of the Health Service of Tulungagung Bahrudin Budi Santosa. According to him, his side was very pessimistic if the case that was experienced by Eni Wulandari was the case of the third phase. Namely the AI spread from humankind to humankind. Meaning that Eni tertular from his full brother, Abram, 11, that was killed positive bird flu to last September 18. Bahrudin stressed, ‘’‘that was experienced by Eni Wulandari was the case of the second phase. Namely the spread from the poultry to humankind.’‘’ “Was thought by me Eni tertular from the available poultry in the surrounding environment.” Because Eni remained at one house with his brother, Abram. Whereas around their house indeed was found by many chickens that died because of AI, said Bahrudin yesterday. The first phase was the spread of the AI virus from the poultry to the poultry. The second phase, the spread of the AI virus from the poultry to humankind. And the third phase, the spread of the virus H5N1 from humankind to humankind. This third phase that currently most is frightened. As is known, Eni Wulandari was stated positive terjangkit the virus AI. he was run off with to RSU Dr Soetomo, Surabaya, to last Monday, September 29. Beforehand, the Abram older brother was treated in RSUD Dr Iskak Tulungagung because suspect (it was supposed) terjangkit the AI virus. Bahrudin admitted the possibility of the spread of humankind to humankind indeed was available. His article during Abram was sick AI, Eni that most often direct contact. Both for Abram in the house and during in the hospital. But, continued Bahrdin, the assumption was very small. ‘’Alasanya that had the history of direct contact with Abram not only Eni, but the two parents Siyah and Sutris. As well as the doctor and the nurse in RSUD Dr Iskak for Abram was sick.’‘’ If his spread humankind to humankind, certainly not Eni

But that all of them also tertular. But in fact results of the laboratory inspection of the two parents and the nurses nagatif and only Eni that positive, he said firm. It was related that the alert status one bird flu, said Bahrudin, the Tulungagung Health Service has determined the step in anticipation. His side has mengintruksikan to the official in the Pucanglaban Subdistrict Community Health Centre to do the monitoring of the routine in the Kaligentong Village. The supervision was carried out routinely, especially to casualties’s family and the community around it. “Specially the Kaligentong Village continued to be monitored by us every day,” obviously him. Especially for the citizen Kaligentong if being found had the person who was sick and was suspected, then the local community health centre must as soon as possible refer to the hospital. So as later could be done by the inspection that in more detail. If it was considered was directed bird flu will be brought to Surabaya. “Lest this handling late.” Because this AI virus was very cruel and in in no time. We also provided Tamiflu for early medical treatment to the person who was suspected, added Bahrudin.

Worrywart 23.47 I believe the hospital in Tulungagung does not have “the isolation space” like the one in Surabaya does and that may be why HCWs were tested. I believe the officials think there is a chance it could have been H2H so they were being careful. I also believe Eni was negative and then tested positive which led to some confusion at first to who she was, so as far as others in that area being negative I will wait and see because time will tell. I don’t know how the officials arrive at their conclusions in Tulungagung maybe they are guessing too:) WHO knows:)

Last weekend I had what I suspected (correctly) was a whopping case of strep throat but refrained from hitting the fishymycin because the validity of the strep test, after 72 hours of treatment with antibiotics, would have been in question. I might have tested negative when in fact the resuts were positive for strep.

Does anyone know if the early treatment of H5N1 contacts with Tamiflu can result in similar false negatives? Has Roche had anything to say about this?

And has the WHO definition of “H5N1 positive” been broadened to allow for counting a contact as a positive if they become symptomatic in some way and yet were earlier given Tamiflu? Otherwise, a new way to keep the official case count low may have been stumbled upon.

I am concerned that they have said this, about the upper respiratory tract and throat involvement of patients they are prudently treating as AI patients:

This caught my eye from your post.”Aditya Ryan Saputra, 8 months, villagers Sukowiyono, the Karangrejo Subdistrict, died to last June 2006 after being stated suspect bird flu. However the local health service denied the Aditya death because of the bird flu virus although could be treated in AI isolation space”

Excerpt: 15 Juni: As is known Tulungagung became one of the endemic areas of bird flu. The Media’s Indonesian note mentioned in 2003 - 2004 at least 300 thousand livestock, especially the chicken in the area died and were destroyed because of being affected by AI.

Exceprt: The concern would the AI danger increasingly big after two older brothers were siblings from the Sukowiyono Village, the Karangrejo Subdistrict, namely Adtya, 11 months and Rizal, 7, was run off with to the regional Public Hospital (RSUD) Dr Iskak because diindikasi suspect bird flu.

Aditya had finally died after experiencing the high fever, coughs as well as breathless. Whereas Rizal could be treated for a week because of the similar sign.

Later after being done by the verification of the sample of blood in RSU Dr Soetomo Surabaya for the time being Rizal the AI virus negative.

Influentia2 and Commonground… Aditya and Rizal were discussed back on the Indonesia V thread (and others). At that time, our tracking period started at the end of July when the Cikilet cluster started. For this reason, they were not added to the list at that time.

Later, our time period expanded backwards (perhaps because of the confusion over names surfacing). I’m not sure all of the discussed cases were added to the spreadsheet, as I only added names as requested when they surfaced again. I’m wasn’t sure it added any value to spend time tracking backwards.

I am posting this on both the Indonesia thread and the Daily News thread due to the nature of the content of the article relating to H5N1 in cats, dogs and pigs.

The cat & the Dog was expected the Adaptor of the Flu Virus Burung

Bandung, (HOMEWORK). -

with the existence of the positive patient bird flu in Kel. Kebonwaru Kec. Batununggal the Bandung City, the Centre of the tropics Illness and the Infection (TDIC) the Airlangga University will take the cat specimen and the available dog in the Bandung City and the Handsome Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) Bandung. The two animals were expected as the adaptor of the bird flu virus, apart from the pig. “Pengambilan the cat specimen will be done in wet market or the traditional markets and reconciliation hospitals, one of them RSHS that prepared gave izin,” said the Head of the Centre of the tropics Illness and the Infection (TDIC) the Airlangga University, Dr. drh. C. A. Nidom, when being contacted via telephoned, on Sunday (1/10). But, the Managing Director RSHS Bandung, Dr. Cissy R. Sudjana the officer rejected this matter. He did not feel he had given permission to any side to take the available cat specimen in RSHS. ”Gak knew, I gak could the written request for permission from anywhere. If gak with permission, yes, gak could. Moreover the cat that mana,” he said. The research that has gone for the last two week, continued Nidom, was based on the cat fact to the virus adaptor through the poultry was infected that was eaten by him. Moreover, he had found the virus H5N1 on the cat body in several areas in Indonesia.

“Memang, was based on results of the research beforehand, just the proven pig could as the virus adaptor and afterwards spread him to manusia,” he said. According to him, the cat and the dog became the animal that was expected strong at could become the virus adaptor H5N1 as in the case of the pig. Added, the spread of the bird flu virus could not be only seen from the poultry to humankind, like that uptil now was carried out by the Department of the Health. The bird flu virus, added he, could be spread through the other animal, that is the pig that has been proven in Tangerang, last year. “Selama this often the distortion in the handling of the case of bird flu has happened because that was seen by only spreads of the poultry to manusia,” he said. The government he thought immediately did not follow up the discovery about the pig. The spread from the poultry to humankind, small his possibility because of two obstacles. Firstly, the place of attachments to the virus receptor between the poultry and the humankind were different. “Ayam that spesifitas his receptor 23, whereas humankind 26. Now, the pig had the two receptor kinds tersebut,” he said. Secondly, the temperature of the chicken body with the humankind was different far. The temperature of the revolving poultry body 40 to 41 Celsius levels, whereas humankind only 36 Celsius levels. “Oleh because that, the virus needed the adaptor. Until this just the pig that could because he had two receptors that were the same as the poultry and humankind and the pig had the temperature of the body that be the same as manusia,” he revealed.

The handling of the patient Was based on the data in the Health Service of the West Javanese Province, the patient that was stated positive terjangkit the bird flu virus had 23 people, 19 including dying. Now, the patient that had been treated in RSHS Bandung from eight positive people, six including dying. Uptil now, the monitoring of the patient who was stated positive, but did not die, was handed over to the hospital that reconciled him. “Memang did not have the provisions how long they must the control. Usually three months berturut-turut,” said Dr. Cissy. On this, Dr. Nidom suggested that the Department of Health carried out the monitoring continually against positive patients who still were living. “Saya was sure he brought the virus, but recovered. I worried the virus did not yet form antibodies et cetera could unload blood cells putih,” he said.

Dipindah

In the meantime, the patient suspect bird flu, A (41), has been moved from Poinciana Tree Space to Internal Disease Space of RSHS Bandung. “Ia positive was attacked by dengue fever and the flu negative burung,” said Dr. Cissy. Now, the IM situation (15) continued to improve. The laboratory test totalling three times showed results of the negative. The big possibility, today IM is returned to his house. Twice the laboratory test also showed results of the upper negative the sample from suspect San (18) that still relatives IM. While Az (9), the reconciliation patient of RSUD Tasikmalaya that arrived in RSHS, on Saturday night (30/9), at this time was still feverish but breathless decreased. “Kemungkinan him was negative, because of his leucocytes tinggi,” said Dr. Cissy.

Membaik

In the meantime, the condition for the health of two patients suspect bird flu that was treated in Isolation space RSUD the Tasikmalaya City on Sunday (1/10) increasingly good. Atg (50) or his child, Mus (13), has not been feverish and again breathless. “However, for the patient Mus still had his cough.” But, his cough not often. Generally the condition both of them improved, the temperature of his body was also normal, said Lusi, the nurse that handled the two patients. According to Lusi, the two patients were on Sunday morning examined by the condition for his health by the internal disease specialist, Dr. Dendi. Results of the inspection showed the condition for his health improved. “But, they were not yet allowed to come home and continue to in observation,” he said.

The chairman Tim the Handling of Bird Flu RSUD the Tasikmalaya City, Dr. Dedi Riswandi said, because of entering the room of the isolation so as the treatment of the two patients as in the case of was given to the patient suspect bird flu. They were minimal for a week was in this isolation space. If his condition improved and results of the test that was carried out the health laboratory in Jakarta the bird flu negative, they could come home.

I have noticed this extremely long toggletext articles from Indo both here and in the Indo threads. Are they being posted in their entirety as a service to readers so they don’t have to translate them themselves? They are really long and I know the wiki has been having speed problems of late. Are these treated/seen in a different light than regular English language news articles where only a couple of paras are posted with a link?

The answer to your question is yes, to some extent. The information on this thread is used to try to keep track of what is really happening in Indonesia… Since we are not seeing this informaiton in MSM.

The amount of work that this group of people put into this effort is enormous.

In order to get the most accurate information, and be sure to not miss important facts, is to post most or all of the article… Which is necessary. Otherwise, these individuals and others (like me) will have to go back and re-translate the article to find information necessary to complete special projects. A time consuming task that would NOT be peformed by many.

If the article is not posted with most of the content, you run the risk of missing clues, relationships, persons infected or not infected, and so on… when that happens, you lose credibility.

Worse… we all might miss those first few clues a pandemic might break out.

This is a community project that has implications beyond the frustration of reading long posts. In order to acknowledge that frustration, in the beginning, this indonesia team asked for a thread to be dedicated just to post summaries, maps, and other information they put together. That way they hoped to help Alleviate some of that frustration.

I hope you find some solace in the fact that this is a working thread, and the information garnered here may benefit you and your family.
