new thread. old one here
In case anyone was wondering, I made it to Williamsburg Virginia on Saturday afternoon. Quite a ride across this vast country…
I’ll be back on FluWiki more in the next week or so…I’ll be lurking a bit ‘til then. DW has a list of “Honey Do’s” about a mile long, so I’m gonna be a tad busy.
Actually, BB, I have been wondering! Glad you made it o.k. Williamsburg VA, beautiful place.
Mods….can you fix the Indo thread where I posted and forgot to put it into a tinyurl? Now we have a side scroll.
Congratulations BB.. Glad you made it safely! Once you get all of those “honey do’s” done, then you can really start prepping! :)
Side scroll alert on Empty Shelves thread
Good to see you BB. Quite a drive.
Glad you made it safely BB! Missed you! Glad your family is back together again!
on Empty Shelves
Also the “Baking Bread” thread was apparently an accident and wants to be deleted.
Also, I’d like to vote for a new Indonesia Outbreaks thread, as the current one is getting very long.
New Indo Outbreaks thread created here
Hi. Is there some way I can search easily for posts by people’s handle AND by date? I want to extract info from a number of posters on various threads, but some are very prolific and I tend to associate posts by date/period of time more easily. I know I can search the forum putting the handle name, but that does not give me dates. Or some way to find all posts by one poster with just a line of abstract of each of his/her posts? Many thanks.
I can’t do anything about the abstract but you can order the search results by date. It won’t be the date that individual posted though, it will be the date of the last post to a thread. If you put the following in the search bar:
pogge group=forum order=time
you’ll get a list of all the pages in the forum that contain my handle and the list will be sorted from oldest to newest. If you search on the following:
pogge group=forum order=-time
you’ll get the same results but sorted with the newest at the top instead of at the bottom.
PS:
If the handle has more than one word in it, e.g. Bronco Bill with a space, put it in quotation marks like so:
“Bronco Bill” group=forum order=-time
Thank you. I’ll start forthwith… tomorrow :)
I can’t get the “Profiles” thread to come up. Is there a problem, or is it just me?
If you mean this page (which I’ve just restored), it’s not a thread. It’s a list of the user profiles on this server.
Yes, thanks pogge!
Yes, thanks pogge!
You have got to get this poster “Kul”. He has spammed numerous threads about 5 minutes ago. fluprepxvi, statins Revisited II, hometreatmentforchildren2, parasiticn…., Amyanti….
Hey guys, I’ve been posting “SPAM” on the links that get hit, but I may be making things worse. I hoped to just tag the threads so others would know, but they hit the same threads again and again. My interfering may be making it more difficult on you guys to do something about it. If that’s so I’m sorry……that isn’t my intent….I just HATE seeing their names up like conquering banners. But I don’t want to egg them on either so I’ll quit and just let you guys handle it like I know you’re trying to do.
SPAM SLAM on “Create New Thread” thread
I mean “Create New Topic” thread…but y’all knew that!
Is Susan Chu in the Times letter the same Susan Chu “Susan Y. Chu, Ph.D., M.S.P.H.” CDC (Acting) Associate Director for Science? My apologies if that is being to nosey….
no
Spam attack on the Create New Topic Thread, again.
Has anyone else had Birdie Kate’s experience of being refused a latest copy of the city’s plan on grounds of national security? This scares me as much as anything else!
I’ve read a couple of people having that experience — it’s a Homeland Security category that they can throw these plans into to keep from making them public.
(“on grounds of national security” Those magic words have gotten us all in trouble. Now how to question authority, or watch the watchers? 2 beans, probably just saying that so you can’t see how their plan is not going to work, and rouse the sheeple? and lose them their bureaucrat paychecks early?)
How to keep the spambots out of the Wiki?
crfullmoon:
I just can’t come up with any possible justification for this. I’m starting to think this lends more weight to the idea of forcible confinement.
How to keep the spambots out of the Wiki?
Can’t be done. we just have to periodically skim the scum.
Bill welcome to VA! I am up the road a bit in Stafford, about 30 miles from DC. Only been here a year and liking it so far.
By the way, what’s going on with Melanie? Haven’t seen her on here for awhile and I ‘checked out’ for a few weeks. Hope all is well with her.
Never mind. Just read the other thread.
Spam on Bird Flu Outbreaks in Indonesia Going Unstudied
DennisC advised my to post here. VERY OFFENSIVE XXXXXX-Spam links. I was shocked, and outraged, because as I’ve stated, my daughter reads these postings to, (she’s 13). I asked the question if there is someway to remove the offensive material? PLEASE! I have felt confident in letting her read the posting, but not anymore. These are on the Bird flu outbreaks in Indonesia going unstudies.
anonymous – at 06:04, In the Welcome Lurkers or whatever its called thread,
something looks ungood.
(What a drag to get spam all week, too. -thanks and good luck.)
Hi,
Could you please split the Velveeta thread into two?
Velveeta Cheese II
Please start it with my lenghty post at JWB – at 10:59
There is info there that I think most need to see and I’m afraid that others that have been to the first post might miss it.
THANKS!
MODS—Lots of spam in the Create New Topic thread.
Hey, I just started a Bisquick recipes thread but the words Bisquick and Recipes ran together. When you have time could someone please please please separate those two words??
I don’t know how that happened and I’m sorry.
Re my post 10/3/06 at 21:31:
Front page of my local (Baton Rouge, La) newspaper today, article by Marsha Shuler (google 2theadvocate)
State and federal health agencies are refusing to release information on the hurricane readiness of hospitals in the most storm-prone parts of Louisiana. Citing objections by the federal government, the state Department of Health and Hospitals on Friday rejected a public-records request for results of a survey of hospitals in 12 low-lying parished from Orleans to Cameron. (snip) U.S Department of Health and Human Services attorney Patricia Mantoan said Monday that the records are federal, not state, so federal law governs whether the public can see them. (snip) The exception Mantoan cited is for “inter-agency or intra-agency memorandums or letters which would not be available by law to a party other than an agency in litigation with the agency”. The exception is used to protect the decision-making process of an agency. (snip) Surveyors looked at the hospitals’ ability to do such things as: >Provide adequate staff in an emergency >Have enough generators to run air conditioning and ventilation systems, along with fuel to keep them going. >Store a food supply that could last several days. (snip) The Louisiana Hospital Association told its members in an August memorandum that federal officials “assured indiviual hospitals that their results will not be released.” (snip) “In this case, the deliberative process privilege would protect this draft document” Mantoan wrote Perez (state DHH general counsel). The Advocate on Tuesday appealed the decision to thefederal agency’s Freedom of Information Act officer Robert Eckert. Eckert said the agency has a big backlog of records requests. He said he could not estimate how long it would take to locate the documents at issue, then make a determination on whether to release them.
Folks - the press is our best ally in this battle.
Well THAT careful formatting sure went all to hell. Sorry.
MODS—Lots of spam in the Create New Topic thread.
it’s a ‘bot. we let it build up, then skim.
I was wondering if an image could be removed from this thread:
http://www.fluwikie2.com/pmwiki.php?n=Forum.JerichoTVShow-comments
It’s the only image in the thread and it’s huge. My screen resolution is set at 800×600 and I have to do quite a horizontal scroll to read any of the other posts in the thread.
I just added a bit of code to reduce the image size. See how that works for you.
The thread “Create new topic” seems to grow although it looks closed to me. It’s all junk, except the single post with content (which I copied to make a new thread the other day). It’s a spam magnet. Can someone remove it entirely?
System running slow. Could you close some old threads?
It’s better, Pogge. Thanks. :-)
Can someone remove it entirely?
The spam ‘bots would just recreate it. At least this way, we know where they are. ;-)
I’m going to try to work on closing some older threads this weekend. I have some updates to the Forum Index to get caught up with also…
Glad to see you back, Bronco Bill.
Thanks TRay75. It’s good to be on ground that’s not moving underneath me…
I have some updates to the Forum Index to get caught up with also…
If you can’t find something you’re looking for, let me know. I’ve been busy myself. ;-)
I would like to send a card and donation to Melanie for the wikie. Do you have an address (snail mail) I can send to? I don’t want to post my e-mail for all to see. Thanks,
Could you close FluPrepXXIII and start a new one? It’s sooooooo long. Thanks

Create New Topic thread is invaded by spam
How’s Melanie?
What is up with the huge increase in spam in the past 3 days?? What is the progress in moving the forum to another platform where registration is required?
In the Welcome Lurkers thread, an anon posted something about how to find out about forum posters- I’m afraid to look if its bad spxm since I can’t edit it out if it was.
Can a mod take a look? thanks.
Welcome lurkers thread, anonymous – at 06:04
There is no personal information in that. It’s a text database made up of forum posts and some additional statistics such as who’s posted how many times. It’s all publicly available information. For example, you wouldn’t find out anymore about me from it than you could by simply reading the forum closely and doing your own counts on where and how often I’ve posted.
Not to worry.
Ok, thanks. pogge Guess if an anon hadn’t posted it, or the link looked more “fluwikish” I wouldn’t have worried some newbie would step in something a troll left.
;-)
Where can the topic of fatality management go Anticipated problems in ?
And should it be titled something else? What will people search for it under?
I know many systems (military, local, state, whatever) have their own plans on paper; have they put them together to see if they clash/drop the …ball, or all rely on exclusive use of the same limited resources? (Guess that part is not a mod question, but, time to get offline and get other things done)
can any one advise me as to why www.birdflubreakingnews.com is down. we use this site extensively to keep up with daily news regarding the bird flu. this is the second day the site has been down. please forgive me if this is not an appropriate question or appropriate place to ask this question. as you can tell my experience with forums is non existant. thank you.
lifeisgreat05 – at 14:19 --- Their site is up now.
crfullmoon – at 11:05
Look under Mortuary and funeral services; handling of deceased persons and animals, which is under Medical and Health Services which is under Anticipated problems.
