From Flu Wiki 2

Forum: Conference of the Editors

29 July 2006

Melanie – at 23:29

Dem, anon_22, the Reveres and I will be phone conferencing in the morning to do a threat assessment before everybody takes off for August vacations with reduced internet connectivity. Y’all got any questions for us to take into the meeting?

Tom DVM – at 23:34

Is Flu Wiki going to run in a pandemic?

Melanie – at 23:35

As long as the Internet is up, Tom. We’re working on ways to “harden” the site. We also need to harden our a**es so that we don’t get sick.

Tom DVM – at 23:44

I know that I won’t make it through without getting sick.

Melanie – at 23:53

I live alone and work at home so I think I have a shot of not getting sick.

30 July 2006

enza – at 00:00

Oh Tom, please dont say that! We need you. Take proper precautions and will yourself to not get sick, the mind/body connection is strong.

Anon_451 – at 00:10

Melanie – at 23:29 I assume that you will take into account all of the “other” disease out there, (Dengue, etc) those that could be masking cases of non fatal H5N1.

I wish you the best and a speedy report.

Melanie – at 00:12

Anon_451,

We’re watching Dengue, but it isn’t nearly as infectious as flu.

Bronco Bill – at 00:40

Are y’all taking vaca at the same time? I hear those Swiss Alps are gorgeous this time of year…and Austrian White Wine is pretty good, too!! :-)

In reality, if y’all are gone at the same time (in overlapping vacations), will you still have enough connectivity to post any updates that you feel necessary? Or, ‘as you should be’, are you taking a vacation from the stress of managing this beast on a daily basis?

Tom DVM – at 00:42

enza Thanks for the kind words but I am absolutely sure that flu wiki will get along very well without me…

…The real emphasis here should and will be on prepping, a subject I am now qualified to speak on at the moment.

I think my purpose was to counter the statement by the WHO in January 2005, and a number of statements over the past six months, the spinning of information by authorities to downplay the risk for whatever reason.

As the scales by knowall has demonstrated, I think everyone on flu wiki is right where they should be…they have not bought the bunk that authorities have been trying to pass off on them.

I kind of have a nose for trouble and when it occurs I will probably be in the middle of it somewhere which probably means that I will get sick but most who get sick wont’ die…so we’ll see.

There is more than enough brains here to make up for a few casualities along the way…I am sure of it.

Tom DVM – at 00:45

Sorry, that should have read ‘a subject I am not qualified to speak on at the moment’.

Melanie – at 00:50

The mods will be around, just not as much as usual. Dem heads to Maine for a week in August and the reveres will be on the Grand Strand. I’ll be around, not having the income for a vaction.

Corky52 – at 00:53

Tom DVM,

You need to prep not for SIP but to be able to be in shape to help out! I can’t picture you in SIP, but having supplies will let you concentrate on being of use, something I gather is important to you.

Melanie – at 00:54

And anon-22 will be globe-trotting, as usual. Pogge will be in and out of his space near Toronto.

Bronco Bill – at 00:54

I’ll be around, not having the income for a vaction

Vacation in a condo = 1 chaise lounge, 1 balcony, and 1 bottle of chilled wine (or a foo-foo drink with a little umbrella)

Melanie – at 00:56

BB,

Exactly, once I get the veterinary stuff finalized.

Bronco Bill – at 00:59

Are the kitties okay?

Tom DVM – at 01:00

Corky52. Thanks. I will get it done in time…I promise.

Bronco Bill – at 01:01

Pogge. Hmmmm. I think I saw him once. We were visiting Niagara Falls 2 summers ago, and I looked across the Canadian Ocean (Lake Ontario) towards Toronto. I’m sure that was him I saw! HAHAHAHA!!!

enza – at 01:21

Tom, I’ll be in the thick of it too—I work in the fields of preparedness and public health. However, as a parent I have had sick kids and had to nurse them and said to myself “I simply cannot afford the luxury of getting sick now”. And, I’ll be darned, it worked… I didn’t get sick.

Bronco Bill – at 01:23

And, I’ll be darned, it worked… I didn’t get sick.

Mind over matter---one of the strongest medicines there is!

Melanie – at 02:04

The kitties are headed for the vet on Monday morning. Rosa has some skin lesions and Eddie has a cyst. This is going to cost a fortune, but my kits are my kids.

Bronco Bill – at 02:56

Best wishes to yer “kids”! :-)

anon_22 – at 03:05

BB & Melanie,

Vacation in a condo = 1 chaise lounge, 1 balcony, and 1 bottle of chilled wine (or a foo-foo drink with a little umbrella)

Oh, how I would love that.

And no offspring. For once.

I’ll get that after the summer. :-)

Melanie – at 03:31

BB,

No, you didn’t see him. Pogge lives far enough out in the eastern burbs of Tto that you can’t see him from Niagra. You’d have to take your life in your hands and drive much further up the 401.

anonymous – at 05:11

are these planned improvements of the forum a subject ?

Melanie – at 05:21

Yup. Anyonymous, get yourelf a handle.

lugon – at 07:49

Yeah, questions - the usual ones: software, donations, tp. And probabilities - I want a whole set of them for myself.

Eccles – at 07:56

Lives Alone…

Works at home..

No money for vacation..

Melanie- Allow me to be the first to offer to subsidize the purchase of a whole package of those little paper Drink Umbrellas on a heavy toothpick stick. It is the least I can do.

seacoast – at 10:20

Tom DVM - You have to make it through, you are one of our favorites! Statins, masks, gloves, goggles, you have a head full of knowledge to get you and yours through this thing. I know that you will be out there helping, but, there are things you can do to protect yourself.

Melanie - I live in “Paradise” you would be welcomed to spend some time by sea with us.

Bronco Bill – at 11:14

Melanie – at 03:31 --- Sure I did! :-) I saw, all the way across the Canadian Ocean, this little face in a window in the side of a building. From the type of lighting coming out, I surmised it was probably a IT room of some type. Right next to that little face in the window was a sign. It read: “HELP! CALL POLICE! GET ME OUT!!” I’m CERTAIN that was pogge!

lugon – at 12:31

“Statins, masks, gloves, goggles”

Seacoast doesn’t mention antivirals or vaccines.

We need to get this out there.

Admins are thinking about another awareness week sometime?

seacoast – at 13:09

lugon-

Tom DVM has repeatedly stated that he would not be taking antivirals or vaccines and the above was directed to him, not for those who have made other decisions. I would take Tamiflu if I could but I also realize it should be used for emergency workers. The rest of us who are not critcal employes can do our part by SIP and not getting sick.

seacoast – at 13:16

I just realized that Tom DVM is getting a lot of attention from all of us…I am sure that is because the gentle nature of his being is coming through in all his posts. He is such a gentleman and always willing to help others. Ok, Tom now grease your head so you can fit through your front door and get some preps!

pogge – at 15:10

I’m CERTAIN that was pogge!

And it didn’t work. They’ve shortened my chain so I can’t reach the window any more.

31 July 2006

worrywart – at 00:26

was anything posted by Melanie about the conference today? -Just wondering if there is anything I may have missed on another thread.

Bronco Bill – at 00:31

Shhhhh….don’t tell anyone. The meeting minutes are very secret. But I’ll let this slip out---they shortened pogge’s chain!!

Actually, in all seriousness, no. Nothing yet. I think Melanie’s making her plans for her luxury vacation get-away…

Melanie – at 00:33

worrywart,

We are worried by Thailand but not changing our threat assessment after this conference. The reveres remind us that it is not unusual to have clusters for a long time before a pandemic emerges and we don’t think that things have moved much further along at this point. That said, the reveres, who are among the most conservative among us, are furrowing their collective brow a little more deeply than they did at our last meeting.

We are watching and working our contacts. What we can say publically will be on the wiki. What we can’t say publically will be on the wiki, too, but under pseudonyms, except for me. I’m the public face of the wiki and I need to stay that way.

Dude – at 00:57

Dear Editors,

I was wondering about wonder. I want to know everything. Why am I here? What is over the horizon? Why do I love and hurt? How can you answer all my questions?

I really like to empower people. Right now you are all my heroes because that is what is done here. Grin. So what question do I really have?

Just this: What am I going to do with all that damn food in my basement if nothing happens? Do you all want to come to my place for a pot luck?

Dude.

PS Enjoy everything you do whenever life lets you. It is the only way to live.

Bronco Bill – at 01:02

Do you all want to come to my place for a pot luck?

Everybody could bring a dish made of rice n’ beans. I wonder how many concoctions there could possibly be…

MaMaat 01:09

Alot:-)

ANON-YYZ – at 01:10

Dude – at 00:57

“What am I going to do with all that damn food in my basement if nothing happens?”

Good question. I thought about it too.

Well, I paid my insurance premium. If I don’t have to file a claim, I consider myself lucky, and I already enjoyed my peace of mind. Can I ask for a refund? No. Do I get a no claim bonus? Yes. I can bring it to a pot luck. I can also give some to the food bank, and count my blessings. I am luckier than a lot of other people.

worrywart – at 01:11

Thanks Melanie :-)

Bronco Bill – at 01:17

MaMa’s BACK!!!!!!! Hope your trip was fruitful….

Dude – at 01:24

We are going to have lots of instant mashed potatoes. I even have some spam ugh! I can bring a case of really good wine though.

MaMaat 01:29

BB, it’s been very fruitful and I’m still tripping:-) Thankfully my schedule has eased up a bit though so I have a bit of time here and there to relax.

BTW if there’s a pot luck to be had I want in on it. Boy would that be fun, it’d have to be about a week long so everyone would get a chance to visit though:-)

Bronco Bill – at 01:31

I can bring a case of really good wine though

Damn straight, you KNOW I’ll be there!!!

it’d have to be about a week long so everyone would get a chance to visit though

Dude…hopefully, you’ve got Lots of propane stored!! LOL!!

mj – at 01:35

Anyone else read the post by RobT on the Aussi NZ thread? Would love to hear some comments on this one.

Dude – at 01:35

LOL Why Not! I am sure you are all prepared to camp in my back yard and be completely self sufficient for at least a year long party!

MaMaat 01:51

Oh ya…well, for 6 months at least. I’ll keep working at it though, I’d hate to have to leave the party early:-)

Seriously though, thank God for all of you guys here. I wouldn’t be sane, never mind prepped much at all if it weren’t for you all.

Edna Mode – at 07:26

anon_22 – at 03:05 Oh, how I would love that. And no offspring. For once.

Be careful what you wish for.

Ruth – at 07:41

If nothing happens, I will eat some of my preps, but the rest I will donate to a food pantry. I also plan to donate the food a few months b/4 it expires and then restock.

anon_22 – at 08:02

I did say for once, Edna.

Edna Mode – at 08:08

anon_22 – at 08:02 I did say for once, Edna.

I know. And I know you were being funny. And you didn’t say anything that any parent with kids attached at the hip hasn’t thought privately. Just saying…

Calico – at 08:28

ANON-YYZ, if you can’t eat your preps, you screwed up bigtime.

Ruth, it’s not a bad plan to give food to a food pantry, but from the standpoint of food expiring, it shouldn’t have been necessary. And it means you are in a mindset of preparing for a single disaster - you haven’t really learned that there are so many more reasons to have stocks on hand.

lug-on, there is no vaccine. And there is not nearly enough Big Pharma anti-virals for everyone, if that’s what you meant by anti-virals (quite a few herbal options, though, but you have to reach your own conclusions about them).

Bronco Bill – at 12:03

Calico – at 08:28 --- Not sure where you’ve been, but Glaxo is working on beginning some trials of a vaccine right now. No, you’re right, there is no vaccine available to the public right now, but there may be soon, if their trials work.

In case you didn’t read all of Ruth’s post, she said she would donate her soon-to-be-expired food and restock. I don’t think it should be your judgement call to say that someone hasn’t “really learned” about all the reasons to prep.

Dude – at 13:03

My food in the basement comment was just a joke at 0057…smile, relax there are many things that need input from all of us, but keep your perspective and don’t take everything here at face value. There was once a book called, “I am OK, you are OK.” The central message was that until someone shows you something else, just assume the best about them and yourself. It makes for positive interactions. If something does not ring true to you, you could try the old standby from My Cousin Vinny, “You were serious about that?” or just ask.

ANON-YYZ – at 13:16

Dude – at 13:03

Worth repeating:

I am OK, you are OK

cactus az – at 13:22
 Calico,
I,too, will donate my preps to local food bank before they outdate.

I work away from home, some months I am only home a few days.

Will be very different when time comes to SIP, so I`m stocked up for that. If things go on for a bit, then some stocks will start to age. Giving to food bank beats having to throw out good food.
Bronco Bill – at 13:25

Dude and ANON-YYZ ---

The title was I’m Okay, You’re Okay.

The sequel was I’m Okay, You’re Outta Your Mind! ;-)

Levity. Gotta have levity…

Calico – at 13:49

Apologies if I offended anyone with my comments about out-of-date supplies. I realize there are situations where it is unavoidable and donating to a food pantry is always commendable. However, I stand firm that if you are contemplating giving them up solely because h5n1 may not be around the corner, to please reconsider whether you are engaging in one-disaster planning. It is like snatching up that generator prior to the hurricane, only to return it immediately after the hurricane passes, but before next month’s hurricane has been identified. There are so many other reasons to prepare. I did relatively little for h5n1 because I already have my supplies. It can, indeed, be a waste of money and effort if you aren’t stocking what you would normally use and eat or if you aren’t making a point of stocking items with a long shelf life.

Remember how hard it was to get started? If possible, use that as an incentive to keep it going.

ANON-YYZ – at 13:53

Calico – at 13:49

Oh no, don’t worry. No one’s offended.

You do have a good point.

amt – at 13:56

RE: Bronco Bill @ 1:02 Also Melanie, Pogge et al…

Speaking of Rice & Beans - I have been looking at the number of recipes we have, particularly from Kathy in FL, and it’s a bit mind boggling - if not downright impressive. I wanted to try one out the other day, and had a lot of trouble locating it. Flour tortillas, mmmmmm.

Is there a way to move them to the Wiki side? It would be most brilliant if it they could be indexed in some way, or at least in alphabetical order. I would be willing to help. I am not a programmer/developer, but I am capable of creating a basic table, data entry and so on.

(I mostly try stay a lurker, but sometimes I have a little too much coffee, and well you see what happens… and I apologize if there is something out there that I just can’t find.)

Mari – at 14:01

I’d be glad to help. A linked table of contents and a good index would be the most help, as well as having them all in one place. Perhaps we could index by number of servings, as well as primary ingredients.

anon_22 – at 14:08

amt,

It would be great if you or someone can move the recipes to the Wiki side. It is very easy. Follow the ‘How To’ link on the sidebar for simple editing instructions. That is how the whole of the Wiki has been put together.

Recipes should probably go somewhere on this page. Just click on ‘edit’ to start, or use the wiki sandbox for practice.

Thanks! And have fun :-)

Dennis in Colorado – at 14:15

Melanie, et al:
When do you anticipate convening the next conference of the editors?
Just an order of magnitude is OK … days, weeks, or months?
Thanks.

anon_22 – at 14:21

Dennis,

It’s more of an ad hoc thing, depending on what’s happening and whether there are decisions that need to be made eg software-wise. Probably in the order of months, definitely not days. :-)

Mari – at 14:36

amt – at 13:56 (and anyone interested) I added a link on the Food Safety] wiki page to a new [[http://www.fluwikie.com/pmwiki.php?n=Consequences.Recipes|Recipes page.

Perhaps we ought to group recipes into major categories, and make a new page for each major category (like a chapter in a cookbook). If somebody will take a stab at the major categories and identify which recipes ought to go where, I’d be glad to create the wiki pages and add the categories.

Mari – at 14:38

Sorry. The link to the Food Safety page is Food Safety and the link to the Recipes page is Recipes.

amt – at 14:39

Mari -

Great! That seems like a reasonable strategy. Give me a little time to take a look at what we have, and try to break it down.

Melanie – at 14:39

Dennis,

Our imminence meters haven’t gone off yet. This was a last get together before everybody heads off for vacations.

Mari – at 14:49

amt – at 14:39 - Looks like BB already posted his major categories. Gosh that guy is fast!

Lyra – at 14:52

Melanie “That said, the reveres, who are among the most conservative among us, are furrowing their collective brow a little more deeply than they did at our last meeting.”

Why are the reveres furrowing their collective brow more deeply?

Melanie – at 14:59

Lyra,

More worried than at our last check-in.

Bronco Bill – at 15:00

Mari – at 14:49 --- Those are just ad hoc, “off-the-top-of-my-head topics”. Feel free to change them, or add sub-headers.

Gosh that guy is fast! Hey! We’re talking FOOD here…gotta be quick! ;-)

watcher84111 – at 16:23

Melanie—

I only drop in from time to time, so forgive me if this is something that’s been hashed out over and over. When you talk about the group being “more worried”, are you talking about a movement from a 1 to a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10, or from a 7 to an 8? Has the group’s concern level seen a consistent increase during the last 1–18 months, or has it gone from (again using the 1 to 10 scale), say a 4 to a 5 during the tense times of last winter, dropped to a 3 after the Indonesian messw and is now moving up to a 4. (I guess I’m asking, in very unclear language, if everyone is getting progeressively more concerned, or if the concern is higher than it was a month ago, but that level of concern was less that what it was in January?)

Edna Mode – at 16:38

watcher84111 – at 16:23

Thanks for posing that question. I check in usually most days, but this is the first time I’ve heard of the editors “imminence scale” (like the term). I look forward to the mods answering your question.

As for me, since I began following H5N1 in earnest in November, there is nothing that has reduced my level of concern. It has been a steady, relentless progression of conditions that have ripened and continue to ripen on a seemingly inevitable continuum to pandemic.

Melanie – at 17:08

Watcher,

It would be a mistake to lump us all together: we all have different levels of tolerence for the news. I’m publically at about a 5 on a ten point scale. Dem can speak for himself. You can follow the reveres at Effect Measure.

anon_22 – at 17:41

I’m at a 3 for the near term and 8 for 18 months - 5 years from now.

amt – at 21:37

Bronco Bill/Mari -

You all are effective…I’m gonna look over what we have here…lets see….

Anon_451 – at 22:32

Melanie You may want to watch the Government sites (Ready.gov and Pandemicflu.gov) in a few days. (Give them a week they are slow) They will be posting a new guide for Critical infrastructure and business. I have seen an “advance copy” and is really quite good for a government guide. It gives those type business more perspective on what to expect (I personally felt it was still somewhat optimistic). This is just an information post so did not know where to put it.

Melanie – at 22:37

Anon_451,

Since you are clearly on this story, make sure you put up a link when the new info goes up. We have permanent links to the Gov. sites on the wiki, but most readers in the Forum will look here for links to the new material.

Grace RN – at 22:44

Melanie – at 14:59

“More worried than at our last check-in.” I believe this is in reference to the reveres.

(Have they started their grocery shopping yet?)

Isch. Have a great conference and don’t eat any Spam, rice, beans or instant powdered milk…All our blessings and thanks to all the mods, reveres….

Melanie – at 22:53

Grace,

Having had a relatively impoverished childhood, I actually *like* spam.

I didn’t question the reveres about it directly, but I don’t believe they are grocery shopping yet.

It was great to check in with the homies and anon_22 may be in my neighborhood in a few weeks and we are looking forward to getting together. Being a Wiki mod is a distinctly different way of life and it is great to hang with those who understand.

Strider – at 23:01

Melanie: “I’ll be around, not having the income for a vacation.”

You need a vacation too! After all that you do for the group, you need to get a chance to chill, relax, and get away from Foggy Bottom. Depending on how things slide, it may be the last any of us get a chance to relax for quite a while.

If you would like, come on down #50 E and 13 S, and enjoy a few days off at the beach. My DW would love to have a intelligent female to chat with (I don’t have the right “shape” and like most men I apparently tend to drag my knuckles on the ground at times ;)

Not a great deal of “city” attractions around here, just easy access to the US’s largest national seashore 35 mile long beach island, filled with wild ponies that will eat out of your hand (not suggested, they then follow you to your campsite and demand more rice and beans…), but peaceful beach and quiet. You can drive down the beach to spots where there isn’t another living soul for miles, sip (if I remember right) white wine flu killer around a fire on the beach, and enjoy the beauty of a full moon rising out of the ocean. If you felt a might nervous over all of that empty space after living in the city, I can send my Lab and my Comfort dog (he prefers to be called a hybrid, others would say “mutt”) with you for companionship and protection. I’ll throw in a tent and full kit for you. Or if you would like, you can stay here at the farm with us. It’s a great place to SIP for a few days. If you want, bring the kits and you can shelter in place for the duration, we need another person or two for that event (woe it ever happens!) so would be glad to have you down.

All this is coming from a person who hasn’t taken a “vacation” for 17 years himself, unless you count a 43 hour “tour” of Martinsburg WV looking at home sites last year.

(Note to WB, if your school ever needs an aquaculture or hydroponic inventor/tech, give a yell!)

And the kits are more than welcome, we have 21 (I think?) that have all moved in on their own over the years. Most are outside cats (wishing they were inside cats), though a young stray that I found hitch hiking along a back road through the forest is now living inside. Always room for one more (or two or three).

Seriously, consider taking a break and come down, or if need be I can pick you and yours up and bring you down when I am visiting a lab on the western shore of the Bay. We’d be glad to have you visit. And we have LOTS of rice and beans…. ;)

Strider, aquaponics put the at here earthlink period com

Melanie – at 23:06

Strider,

Thank you, that is incredibly generous. I’ll be dealing with vet issues for the next couple of days but let me see what I can do once those are resolved. If they are ever resolved. Sigh.

Probably better to call the cell, I usually have the line tied up checking the wiki etc. Call tonight and I will stand up on the roof top awaiting your call (provided the lightning storms stay away, I don’t like looking like a crispy critter..) If you want to call tomorrow, try after 8 AM so that I have gurggled down my first pot of coffee and can talk in a recognizable language other than “dog” and “cat”.

I’ll be in the bay water up to “slightly below my waist” in the afternoons for the next two days for my researh on underwater grasses, and THIS time I will remember NOT to take my cell phone in with me, so leave a message.

A “vacation” to me means curling up in a tent with a large beach book, a candle lantern and a hand full of popcorn.

Strider – at 09:50

Melanie,

check your mail.

seacoast – at 10:49

Melanie -

You can also come north to Cape Cod! I guess that you already have my e-mail??

Strider – at 10:53

seacoast -

If it is cooler up there (101° here) maybe I’ll come up there too ;)

seacoast – at 14:28

Strider- It is supposed to get to 100 in Boston tomorrow and we may make it to the high 80 degrees here, but we usually have a breeze. The humidity can make you pretty miserable though so you just jump in the water somrwhere around town.

Melanie – at 14:32

Art Buchwald wrote that heading out the door on any day in a DC August was like having a giant dog breathing on you. That’s pretty much the way this week is going to be.

anon_22 – at 14:33

seacoast,

I may be headed up your area myself. Trying to find accommodation and trying to get dates sorted out. It’s amazing how 4 people can have such complicated schedule intersections, everything is still up in the air and we’re talking about 2 weeks from now. It’s crazy!

Grace RN – at 14:39

Melanie – at 22:53 LOL. Had an exceptionally poverty-striken childhood and suffer PTSSD (post traumatic spam-stress disorder).

Do you use the revere’s grocery shopping patterns as a measure of “when the balloon goes up?” :)

Have a nice working vacation…(if you all end up in a hot tub/pool could it be consider a “thnk-tank” then?)

It’s hotter than Hades in So Jersey now or I’d invite you do for a spell….

Grace

“…(if you all end up in a hot tub/pool could it be consider a “thnk-tank” then?)”

THAT is the best definition of Think Tank I’ve ever come across!!

LOL

Bronco Bill – at 15:11

Heh heh…you poor people in the Northeast!! I’ll trade your winter cold for the heat we had here in FresNo 10 days ago. Thought we’d send it your way so you wouldn’t think we were whining…lol!!

Melanie – at 15:34

BB,

Gee, thanks. And we have the pollution and ozone to go with it.

Eccles – at 15:41

That’s OK Melanie. I would never breathe anything I couldn’t see.

Mari – at 15:53

amt – at 23:51 - Looks good! Maybe pogge has input here - would a table of contents page with the major & subcategories & links to separate pages for the subcategories work better for wiki speed (e.g., separate page for Soups & Stews)?

AnnieBat 16:02

Hey BB, thanks for the SIP stuff - and the good roflmao (that one I know).

I heard on this morning’s radio that the heat in NY and surrounds is going to be horrendous - see you do make the news here in little NZ (grin). Please be careful and don’t over do it.

Thanks to all the Mods who do such a fantastic job - and do it so well. Can wikis qualify for Nobel Prize nominations?

Melanie – at 16:16

AnnieB,

Thanks. Yes, the heat here is unbearable.

Eccles,

Yeah, you can see it. The troubles start after you breath it.

Grace RN – at 16:31

Eccles – at 15:41

“That’s OK Melanie. I would never breathe anything I couldn’t see.”

ROFLMAO!!!!

Shall I cut of slice of Philly air and send you some?

BB-you can send some of those Pacific breezes this way when you get the chance……(my son lives in San Diego…)

seacoast – at 21:22

Melanie - Anon_22 has my name, address, phone numbers and e-mail. We also have two cats, whoops, 1 cat, we just had to put our 80 year old (cat years) to sleep. So the invite comes with one for your cats too.

Anon_22 - Maybe we could meet? I don’t want to be pushy when you have your family with you….

Bronco Bill – at 21:54

Grace RN – at 16:31 --- I’ve got the wind tunnel turned your way now. Y’all should feel some relief in about 4 or 5 days…sooner if there’s a good tail wind…

Supposed to heat up again here this weekend. Spent nearly all my life in “Sunny” California. And every hot July, I’m reminded of why they call it the “Golden State”….baked to a Golden brown!

Melanie – at 04:29

Thanks to all the generous listers. I have vet issues which are prolly going to keep me here for the duration of the month.

lugon – at 04:46

AnnieB – at 16:02 Thanks to all the Mods who do such a fantastic job - and do it so well. Can wikis qualify for Nobel Prize nominations?

Not yet, AFAIK (as far as I know).

I say (possessed by the collective voice, you know the deep, from below the ground voice) give

us

time

LOL (etc)

lugon – at 04:50

And, while I’m at posting - I’m afraid I won’t be in no-one’s area for the vacation. Consider yourselves cheek-kissed (once, twice, thrice), hugged, hand-waved, low-back-bent, behind-kicked or whatever the way of saying “see you soon, folks!” is in your culture.

Remember to contribute to your own well-being too!

anon_22 – at 06:09

seacoast,

Anon_22 - Maybe we could meet? I don’t want to be pushy when you have your family with you….

Yes, absolutely. Although I have to be very disciplined about this being family time, as we only very few weeks in the year when all of us are together at the same time.

I sent you an email last week from my hotmail address, don’t know if you saw it. :-)

So what’s the best spot on the cape for staying right near beaches with warm calm water ie not ATLANTIC temperatures! I hear Nantucket sound is good?

Strider – at 08:10

Melanie – at 04:29

I wish you the best of luck with the vet issues. My “pets” are my “kids”, I understand where you are at.

The offer for a visit is an open-ended one. And early fall is the end of tourist season, so it is a LOT more peaceful at the beach (the water’s warmer too!)
