The phrase “Hope is not a plan” is supposed to have come from Katrina but I’m not clear on it’s source. Was there a photo of someone on their roof with that phrase written on a sign? Did I read that somewhere?

I’m trying to find the photo, if it is true, to use in a pandemic awareness audiovisual presentation. If anyone knows the source of the phrase or if it comes from such a photo and where I could find the photo, it would be much appreciated.

Ooops! Stuffed up the title. How do I edit the title to include spaces?

It was in the Spike Lee film on HBO titled “When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts”.

There were atleast two houses shown that had that spray painted on them. There were other houses that had stuff spray painted on them but those were mostly unflattering messages to FEMA and the government.

On flickr, Boxchain has a photo from St.Bernard, 10 months after Katrina. (Just read the CC some rights reserved)

It may have gotten repeated many places. (a commenter said, the phrase used to be on a car that got towed)

and from IMDB:

“Warner Brothers Home Entertainment will release controversial director Spike Lee’s documentary on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, When the Levees Broke, on December 19, 2006.

The 3-disc set will include the 4-hour documentary, split into four 1-hour “Act” segments, spread across 2-discs along with Audio Commentaries by Lee himself.

The third disc will include a “Pix” Photo Montage Feature set to music by Terence Blanchard and a “Next Movement” Feature including over 90-minutes of unseen footage.

The set will retail at $29.98.”

I skipped alot of the anniversary stuff but this caught my eye and I thought it was excellent when I watched it on HBO.

Thanks very much for that, much appreciated.

I think it it such a good tagline for the type of denial some are in re the panflu. It really sums it all up, doesn’t it?

Thanks again.
