Forum: Bird Flu Threat in Indonesia

Bird flu in Indonesia is the most troublesome hot bird flu hotspot in the world. Not only occurring in clusters among humans, a development which according to the World Health Organization, suggests human-to-human transmission, but also bird flu has been found there among birds in 30 out of 33 provinces, and has been documented to have crossed the barrier from bird to pigs. This development is REALLY important, because it is known that transfers of viruses from pigs to humans is far easier than from birds to humans. In 1918 it is thought that the bird flu pandemic, known as the Spanish Flu, occurred through a transfer from pigs to humans.

At last the site (birdflubeacon) has at least tried to be up to date - I only used to use it for maps and graphs as everything else was at least a month old …

However, the opener to this thread looks just like an advert for the site so I suggest we continue to use the existing threads for discussion and tracking of the threat and get this one closed?

I will leave a note for the Mods.

Personally, I think FluWikie does the best job of keeping us all up to date. I’ll close this, and if the Mods wish to re-open it, they may.
