Please remember, these are just rumors. Nothing based in absolute fact, but instead, things that you heard from your sister’s boyfriend’s mom’s cousin’s best friend’s Dad’s golf partner.

Here’s the last thread.

LETTER: Dead birds cause for alarm , , 20 I keep finding dead birds around my house. So far, I have found four birds. This disgusts me!

My mom thinks it’s a virus or the bird flu has hit.

By the way they are positioned it looks like they drop dead. I would really like it if this got out into the open. I’d be really afraid if the bird flu got to me or anyone else.

Kind of makes you think of the old “hand waving” charlatans or even that scene & dialog from the Wizard of Oz “pay no attention to the man behind the curtain”. Someone puts that Dr. by their name and instant credibility regardless of what they are really saying. It really is amazing how some folks get so into the whole conspiracy thingie where men in black are behind every wall & rock. After the Matrix movies I wondered how many of those folks would/could buy into something that bizarre in reality.

I have not seen a dead bird in years. Yesterday, I saw one next to the walking path. A little black bird or something like it. Not a trend no big deal, but first one I have seen in years. It was in SE Pa. USA

a friend who works for the local water department says there are way more dead birds than usual in a local dry lake here in southern Calfiornia.

Mebbe ‘cuz there’s no water? ;-)

BB That is the funniest thing I have seen a day. Great line. (Or maybe I am tired and not enough sleep.)

I heard on the radio that the City of Toronto is asking it’s residents not to feed Canada Geese on the shores of Lake Ontario. Ostensibly its because one bird produces 2.2 lbs of droppings per day and contaminates lake water with e.coli etc.

Well, no one drinks lakewater. I think it’s more a precaution for bird flu but if it’s said as such, there will be a hue and cry of fear mongering.

Bird feeders are on display at Costco, an indication that they are selling.

Here’s a July 22nd story about test reports on Canada Geese found dead on the shores of Lake Ontario on July 8/9th:

Some one wants to connect the dots …

They only talked about 5 out of 8 birds tested. What happened to the other 3 bird tests?

Dr. Doug Campbell, pathologist at the Canadian Co-operative Wildlife Health Centre at the University of Guelph, examined the carcasses of five Canada geese and three mallard ducks.

Tests on five of the birds ruled out pesticides, West Nile virus, avian influenza and other viruses. The test for avian botulism also came back negative, but testing for botulism is “notoriously difficult,” he said.

“We may never be able to prove it,” he said, “but I strongly suspect botulism based on the type of birds, time of year and clinical signs (symptoms).”
