Forum: Would Anybody Like to Start a Memorial Page

Several people have commented on feeling uneasy about how we talk about people who have been infected with the H5N1 virus and especially those who died. At the same time as reporting the news and analyzing clusters, we feel that it is important to remember that these people are not statistics or scientific samples, but real people with real lives cut short and griefing families. I am suggesting that we put up a page with their names etc to remember them by.

Would anyone like to volunteer for that? It can be started as a Wiki page, which can be edited as necessary.

Rather than a memorial page with names, some statement could be added somewhere prominent … a simple, tasteful statement similar to what anon_22 said — that we recognize that the people who had suffered and are suffering from H5N1 and its chronic affects are more than statistics that we hope that the work that is generated by this site goes to help the battle to prevent other families from suffering further from such a tragedy. Or something along those lines.

Why not print it before every days news thread. Its simple, thoughtful and respectful.Kathy has youngsters, she is expressing it elegently.
