Dem is on vacation, pogge’s out of town on work, anon_22 is househunting and then traveling, so I’m pretty much holding down the fort alone. Be patient with me, please. Bronco Bill is doing yeoman’s work helping out.

I’m-workin’-on-it – at 19:10

Thanks to both of you & hope everyone else stays safe & happy!

Melanie – at 19:33

We’re doing the best we can.

seacoast – at 19:38

Melanie, Thanks for everything you are doing; all of us know that if you hadn’t shelled out the $10,000 for the wiki, you could have gone on many vacations!

Bronco Bill – at 19:53

I’ll be back on tonite closing and splitting threads. I’ve noticed that the little bit I did last night seemed to help. I just hope that nobody yells “Yo Man!” ;-)

anon_22 – at 20:01

I’m around at unpredictable times. :-)

Nimbus – at 20:12

Melanie & Bronco Bill - thanks a million for all your hard work. It’s much appreciated!

Melanie – at 20:36

seacoast,

haw, hay, that is what I shell out in vet bills.

janetn – at 20:36

Thanks Melanie and Bill for holding things together, we would be in a whole lotta hurt without you guys [all of you]. Anon22 good luck with the house hunt.

wwwKillerFlunet – at 21:57

Melanie, thanks for keeping up this great site. I love it!

OKbirdwatcherat 22:03

anon_22 - you remind me of my elementary school principal - never knew when he might poke his head in the classroom door :)

Many Cats – at 22:34

Melanie: Thanks for all you have done to alert the world to the threat of Avian Influenza. Speaking for Tom DVM and myself, you probably still get a fairly good bang for your vet buck. Just think what those MDs would charge for an ovariohysterectomy (read “spay”)at the hospital! :)

Bronco Bill: “Yo Man!” :)

AnnieBat 23:31

Melanie: → Having recently had to take a son to the after hours medical centre and then fill a script, and only a few weeks before had to take cats to the vet, I informed my son that next time he got sick I was taking him to the vet as it was so much cheaper!

Everyone on the Wiki → Thank you all for being the community that you are and to the Mods for giving birth to this wonderful global community. I know I would not be so well informed or prepared without you all.

Melanie – at 23:34

Um,

I shell out all that in vet bills and will again in the morming.

Bronco Bill – at 23:37

Many Cats – at 22:34 --- ;-P

Many Cats – at 23:41

C’mon now, Mel…you didn’t REALLY need that new Porsche! And besides, your babies will be much more fun during your SIP. In all seriousness, though, hope your babies are all ok. :)

Ange D – at 23:42

Melanie, sometimes . . .it takes a woman to do the work of two men, (ducking) ahem . . .just a thought, as the day draws to a close ;-) lol!

Bronco Bill, soon it will be “y’all man”, not “yo-man”. Gotta get your areas of the country straight!

A sincere thank you to both of you, and to anon_22 and to the vacationing Dem and traveling pogge (eggop)for your work and contributions to this incredible effort.

Many Cats – at 23:42

Bronco Bill: :)

periscopic – at 23:46

Many thanks to you all. This sight has been a great help. I rarely post but may you all be blessed twice fold.

Bronco Bill – at 23:49

Melanie’s not the only one with cat problems. Just got home from the vet. Had to take our 9-year-old Tigger yesterday. Saturday nite I discovered that his annual UTI had returned. X-Rays, antibiotics, lab work, shelter for two days for observation…$750. And they’re looking forward to seeing him next week for a followup visit…”Only $450″!!

BB realizes Tigger’s worth it, as pl;the cat steps34r across the key45ttboard, zdscpurring like mad…

Many Cats – at 23:56

BB: Good for you! I assume you know to keep tabs on his litterbox habits and make sure he urinates. I have seen the sadly fatal results on several occasions of owners who thought their cat was “acting funny” and had no clue the cat had a urethral obstruction leading to the metabolic disturbances which cost them their lives. A blocked male cat is a medical emergency. Tigger has a an observant owner :) who will likely save both Tigger and himself a lot of grief (and vet bills) in the future.

Many Cats – at 23:58

Mel: Sorry for the diversion, but if it can save a cat, then that is another score for the wiki!! :) :) :) :)

Bronco Bill – at 00:06

Many Cats – at 23:56 --- Oh…VERY observant. When the litter box scratching wakes ya up at 3AM, and goes on every two minutes, ya know something’s up. X-rays showed no blockages, but labs showed high pH. Prescribed food. EXPENSIVE food.

DW ‘splained it to me a couple of years ago. “HE’S SICK! TAKE MY BABY TO THE VET!!!” My immediate response: “Yes dear.”

Sorry Melanie…got off on the wrong track here. But…but…he comes right back to me even after I squirt Amoxicillin down his throat! Back to the Wiki…

Bronco Bill – at 00:07

ooops…I mean, the Forum.

Ange D – at 00:09

Bronco Bill Saves Tigger’s Life! Winnie the Poo, Eyore and the entire family at the 100 Acre Woods applaud and celebrate with honey and hot tea.

Good for you. UTI’s are hard to spot and as Many Cats stated, it is a medical emergency.

Many Cats – at 00:31

Melanie: I hope you are sleeping at this hour, but when you get up to read the hi-jacked thread, please let us know how your cats are doing post-vet visit. It sounds like you are spending a good bit and I wish your little ones (and their guardian) all the best and hope you all have many goods times yet to come. Best wishes to you all and THANKS AGAIN MELANIE for all you do!!! :)

I want to add my thanks for a really great site. I’ve been lurking for quite some time and have never posted but I wanted to let you know that I am here very frequently….

Melanie – at 04:05

Thanks to all. Rosa goes into the vet in the am and I don’t expect to see here back in a day.

crfullmoon – at 09:36

G’day, Melanie, on NPR (WBUR) this morning, I heard an underwriter (I think) that they mentioned had a podcast available online - could the Flu Wiki do something like that?

(I’ve been wanting to buy The Flu Wiki some NPR underwriting time of some kind- whether or not it’s tax deductible yet- it might get more people in my region informed.)

Many Cats – at 22:39

BEST POSSIBLE WISHES to Rosa and to you, Melanie!!! Rosa has a great owner!!!

TRay75at 22:51

BB, Just wanted to let you know your BB Blitz today really helped speed the forum up again. Round up those wild threads and keep us chugging along. As always it is appreciated.

Felicia – at 22:57

Hmmmm….maybe we wikians are wired differently than other folks. Born to be cautious about impending threats like pandemic flu and things that other people just don’t seem to spend that much time worrying about and that same part of our brain gives us an affinity for other cautious creatures like cats! I have four of them!
