Forum: Thoughts on Black Flu

I have been thinking about the reference to the Black Flu (1918). That when persons succumbed to it they turned black when they died. I understand that the cytokine storm attacks the organs / systems, because it can no longer distinguish them from the virus as they have lost their markers. Does anyone understand how they lose their markers? Does the body disassemble the cells in order to utilize the building materials? I understand that they casualties turned black because the circulatory system was attacked and the vessel walls became so weakened that they would leak blood, giving the skin surface the black appreance.

Am I on the right track here?

Does anyone have anymore thoughts on this.

TDAT:

It’s called DIC-Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation. No saving you from that diagnosis. It is not a pretty sight.

DIC, even today in the best of medical centers, is still lethal. The root cause of DIC must be treated for any hope of saving the patient.
