Forum: Another Normal Thanksgiving

I became aware of H5N1 last year well before Thanksgiving. That Christmas I looked at people who were oblivious to the possibily of a viral pandemic wistfully. Well they still aren’t aware and in a way I envy them. Yet,I am grateful that I have learned what I have learned. Yesterday someone mentioned the documentary of the Mayflower, and said I should read the book. Squanto, we all know Squanto, came back from his captivity in Spain and in England, understanding English. The tribe he belonged to was devastated by disease. The lady who mentioned this said they now think it was Hepatitis C. He came back to a ruined village with nothing in it but human bones. So, he allied himself to the Pilgrims of the Mayflower. He survived, and some of them survived. I hope this is not the last normal Thanksgiving that you all enjoy. I woke up this morning with the Hymn “We Gather Together” running through my mind. It still is. I hope we gather together, next year and nothing will have changed, that we and everyone you love is still here and unharmed. Take care y’all.Happy Thanksgiving. Give Thanks.
