We at Plan for Pandemic wish all of you at Flu Wiki a safe and happy holiday. We will see you all after the holidays.
I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. I hear that homemade pumpkin pie just a callin’ my name. No folks. No krispy creams tomorrow. I hit the hard stuff! ;-)
Thank you, and to all a happy turkey day.
May your turkey not be infected with H3N1!!
Safe travels and good eats to all!
Right now I am making the stuffing for my 22 pounder. Starting at 6:00 central I’ll roast it for 8 hours at 300 degrees under a greased paper bag. Never needs basting and it browns nicely.
I hope everyone on Flu Wikie is around next year. That would really be something to be thankful for. Be safe and be well.
That’s what I once did, Dave, before I stopped eating birds.
Slow roasting really works. I use the technique on eggplants and gourds now with safflower oil. Buttery taste without all the fat-soluable chemicals and hormones.

One long day of malnutrition and it’s back to my old routine, which does not include much in the way of poultry, pork, or beef. Actually, my biggest weakness is the clam dip that I make each year. That, plus the obligatory libations. Last March my cholesterol was 139. Tomorrow, it should be 239. (It’s good to have goals.)
Happy hedonism everyone.
I remember the year my neice was at her first Thanksgiving. Our turkey crop was very good that year since they had been getting some of the extra milk from the cows. We roasted the biggest tom who weighed 40 lbs. dressed. When he came out of the oven we put my neice next to him on the table and snapped a picture. My parents still have that old photo. My neice is married and a mother herself now.
Time to go start the cornbread stuffing. Trust everyone has a great day!
Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am making my great grandmother’s dressing that we have every year. Always makes me feel so connected to my ancestors! This year I sprung for a fresh, free range, all-vegetarian fed, no hormone, no antibiotic bird. I hope we all will be having a quiet, normal Thanksgiving next year as well!

I hope those who celebrate Thanksgiving have a good time. Harvesting time!
With the scrambling related to prepping, the politics of monitoring and planning (on FW as well as community and personal interactions), its easy to get frustrated — as well as tired. So it is good to be reminded of the blessings and give thanks: a community that shares info and commitment, the energy to debate and disagree in order for us all to ‘do better’, and the desire to celebrate and appreciate each other (even when we fuss … like most families do). So thanks to all on Fluwikie — mods, contributers, and readers alike. Thanks for the community building and commitment.
I, too, would like to thank everyone who has contributed to FluWiki. All the time & great effort people have put into researching all the news sources along w/the tremendous work it takes to compile all the info this site has to offer is just amazing. You truely are saving lives—you will never know the full effect of how far-reaching your efforts have been. God bless you all for everything. FluWiki has been the “lighthouse” in the middle of a turbulent sea—a safe haven where one can find life-saving information & calmness & some refuge from all that is raging around us. I hope everyone has a peaceful, happy day w/family & loved ones:)
