Forum: A Lost Letter

I wrote something on the forum last night (the 25) but did not see it posted anywhere so I figured I must have hit reset. I have a sister in-law who has lived in Bali for the last 30 yrs. She is stateside now for a month and will then return to Bali. She can speak 15 Indo dialects. I have been picking her brain for help from over there. Next I have recently joined another forum Bali Expatrates. There are a lot of people who live in different islands and have a better understaning of whats going on. I have been in touch w/ one member who sent some past and present items. This is my problem, I don’t really know what to ask and I am sure someone at Flu Wiki could contact some of these people. I feel like they might have some other insights that might be useful. I can get some web sites or addresses and let some one who knows weather they are of any value. Ilove this site and would like to give something back but honestly I don’t know what to go for. I thought I would send this to Montrome but please send this to the right person. Tkanks

(Can she translate for the International Pandemic Flu Awareness Week? Or, is there anything helpful here, to bring back there for help with preparedness?)

Libby in Atlanta – at 12:57, I just made the folks on the Indonesia thread aware of your offer. Anything you can contribute is always appreciated.

Libby in Atlanta 12:57… on the latest Indonesia Outbreak thread we often have questions regarding translations. Anytime you or your sister-in-law have a chance, please feel free to check in there and offer comments on uncertainties in the news articles. Thanks for the offer.

Libby in Atlanta. If you visit the Indonesia outbreak thread, you will notice there is considerable difficulty always picking up the information on local (Indo) websites and then getting it translated. If your contacts could possibly:

  1. search the local websites or papers in the native language and either give us updates of information or give us sites to check and translate
  2. assist with translations as, so often, the machine translations lead to confusion, particularly where family members are being identified.

In return, please ask what we can offer them

What news does she have from Bali? What’s her take on what’s really going on there? Are there more bird flu cases than we know about?
