Forum: Ted Koppel Conference At Stanford

24 November 2006

I just caught a few minutes of this as it was playing on cspan last night(thanksgiving). The part that I saw was very good- Ted kept asking some pretty direct questions…he sounded like he has been visiting here! I am posting a link, though I haven’t had time to view the video-I’m hoping that it is the whole conference-because I am sure that there are others, like me, that didn’t see this due to the holiday (ok, I’m not even going there, as to why this was released during dinner hour, on Thanksgiving!).

OK, I just watched the video, very disappointing. It is a very condensed version, of a two hour conference. The most important things, that I saw from the broadcast, were not there. They discussed the fact that sip was really the only option and the inherent problems with a vaccine, though they did allude that they had a working vaccine. I have looked and can’t find this anywhere else…I would really like to get a copy for passing around, it does seem like something that non-preppers might take seriously.

“The most important things, that I saw from the broadcast, were not there”

“Verr-rry in-ter-es-tink…(but, stupid!”) to leave out the most salient points.

(Have your non-preppers seen the Mass Medical Care with Scarce Community Resources Guidelines? I think it is still on the Main Wiki; Tip of the Week sidebar. Palliative Care chapter should get their attention…if you can get anyone to look.)

You can go in on the above link and download the audio and I think the video for free. The whole thing. The first five minutes is just Ted K warming up the audience. I’m playing it now. I’m also cooking Friday’s Thanksgiving dinner (gotta work when they tell you, so no turkey yesterday) so hope I don’t get distracted.

mj-

Thanks! Great catch! I didn’t even see that link! I’m downloading it now, on my old archaic desktop, since the newer laptop is on the fritz again!) Here it is (you need itunes):

As far as distracted goes, was that why this was released yesterday?! Thanks, again!

It occurred in Oct, but the webcast is released so many weeks later. Like the ED tv stuff.

This starts with N Korea situation, close to the start of the second hour it gets into pandemic. It jumps around a bit but comes back to pandemic. Lots of other things. A really good program. You can download the video or just the audio. This is something that might “catch” some of the doubters out there.

I heard about 20 minutes of his conversation on NPR. How long ago was this? Seems like it was before Oct…

any probability estimates ? No ? Then it’s crap.

crfullmoon – at 08:56

Getting stuck or fixated on probability estimates often seems so, to me.
