I posted these with anon_22, but will list them here, too.

1. Use the education system to teach about seasonal and pandemic flu. Have kids design and make “emergency kits.” — posters and ideas. This education will naturally makes it’s way, “home to the parent/parents/caretakers.”

2. Provide mentors to wear PPE’s in public, so citizens become comfortable with the idea. They will most likely follow a “role model.” CDC educational posters to be placed in all public places — stores, pharmacies, schools, etc… HEALTHY HABITS.

3. Set up a network to provide provisions for those on government assistance (to include the elderly). Group or at home deliveries via grociers/restaurants = volunteers. Ensure these citizens have enough to meet the government required SIP.

Best Wishes,

Argyll.

Is it not interacting with tptb to tell them they have wasted over a year of the public’s time, and money, and still do not look to ever forthrightly tell the public to make actual household and community preparations in time to save lives? Looks like they care more about big business than the people who make wealth and government possible.

Depends on who gets to label something; is it a slam or a complaint, or, the input tptb supposedly truely asked for? Opinions should be allowed that it is past time for delay.

Are they just trying to make us feel like insiders are doing something that will eventually be productive, to keep us in line? Can they imagine the public that knows, just getting tired of officials letting an unwarned public play russian roulette with H5N1? We’re not mushrooms and we got tired of the mushroom treatment.

This just looks to be the Never-ending Plandemic. They can keep just dragging out How to tell the public so slowly that the economy and all stays Status Quo until, it is too late.

Dec.2005 Dr.Nabarro, Gartner Fellows interview: …”The longer it’s there, the longer we have a virus close to humans that is capable of mutating and causing a pandemic. And the situation is very, very serious indeed.

Number two, we’ve got to be ready to contain the pandemic when it starts.” … “It requires a level of planning and preparation that’s much, much greater than the majority of countries are showing so far.

Number three, the pandemic will kill when it comes. But more seriously perhaps, it will do massive economic and social damage, because our systems of trade, finance and governance are interconnected and will not survive the impact of a pandemic on workforces. We need to be able to deal with both the human consequences and the economic, social and governance consequences if we’re going to survive it.

And believe me, the pandemic could start tomorrow.

By the time the pandemic starts, preparation will be too late.

So, you should be doing this now, and that’s my message.”

There have been plenty of clear messages; pass them to the public;

govt has power to make stations run free PSAs when national security is involved ( govt had been doing whatever it wants, whether it is legal or not, because “we’re at war”) this too is a Homeland Security issue: Tell the public.

Tell the public the first nine things the WHO thought “you” needed to know, Oct. 2005 , about pandemic influenza. Tell them, you’re “sorry you didn’t tell them a year ago, but, here’s how to start getting ready.”

Tell the public each community was supposed to have established “a Pandemic Preparedness Coordinating Committee that represents all relevant stakeholders in the jurisdiction (including governmental, public health, healthcare, emergency response, agriculture, education, business, communication, community based, and faith-based sectors, as well as private citizens) and that is accountable for articulating strategic priorities and overseeing the development and execution of the jurisdiction’s operational pandemic plan.”

The things households and communities should do would make eveyone more resiliant, anyway. It won’t be wasted preparation. Tell the public to go ahead on their own (the main Flu Wiki certainly would help places not re-invent wheels; get the high school and college students and retired folks reading it).

Put the most obstructionist, “the public can’t handle the truth” local officials out to pasture about co-ordinating or they will continune to be obstructions to true PPCCs both by trying to tell the public pandemic is not very likely, by misleadingly promising any volunteers prompt vaccines, and, implying a vast SNS; ready for all local pandemic needs, and, by telling the public to not prepare for weeks and months of disruptions, which makes the public think things will be over quickly. Life may be over quickly for many at this rate.

Can the CDC honestly tell me there hasn’t been orders to keep all this from the public awareness depite the pandemicflu.gov site going up?

The health dept honcho in charge of town preparedness refused to tell the locals to look at a website their tax dollars have paid for, and that is going to be the CYA that “the public was warned”. The town manager won’t mention it because, “it is a health dept issue”. School dept. won’t tell the parents because they “only do what the higher-ups pass down”. The govenor didn’t do it after our state pandemic summit. (Our Mormon govenor didn’t tell the public how to prep. Asking to order expensive vents vaxes and meds that may not work was his token gesture, instead of trying to figure out months ago how to keep most people, and, most-essential people, alive; promote community contingency planning. Look how much money was spent on the election campaigns and most of the public doesn’t know a deadly pandemic influenza year could break out at any time.) Look how the media never asked any candidate for govenor of MA about our lack of local pandemic preparedness. Shame!

Broadcast those state pandemic summits: put them on YouTube, put them on the tvs some school classrooms have to watch. Cut funding if places don’t start using truly worst-case, reality-based, attack and fatality rates.

There has been more misleading than leadership, and I’ve lost patience with the bureaucrats meeting calender and slow, short-sighted pandemic alert period “reveal” to the public, if, revealing in time for preparation and community contingency planning is really the intent.

Like someone else said on the wiki; “I made them angry with my questions, they made me angry with their answers”.

Because of lack of honest leadership, smart, caring, people have been wasting their time and damaging their relationships at work, church, community, in their families, their marriages, or with friends, because people couldn’t believe them; “Our government would have been warning us; we’d hear it every day in the news’ like terrorism. Didn’t they say there is a “bird flu” vaccine being made? Three days? Two weeks? I don’t need more at home. Pandemic might not even happen.” (So, the employers, relatives and acquaintences and friends …”worshipped the Gods of the Market, who promised these beautiful things”…)
