Trying to follow in Fully Prepped In SoCal’s TOTALLY AWSOME footsteps with the www.mredepot.com discount code. I thought I might try and get us a discount at www.rdbatteries.net. I’ve posted the site a few times, because the prices on rechargable batteries is really good. Not to mention they can make you batteries if you have the specs. My husband uses this company alot for work, fixing medical equipment. Other than that, we don’t have any ties to the company. It is routine for them to give discounts to hospitals, so I think we have a good chance at getting a discount too. Especially if they hear how well the FluWiki-ians have done at MREDEPOT.
Some pricing info below.
1.2V/.70Ah AA NiCd With Button Top (rechargable AA) $2.65 per each
1.2V/2.2Ah C NiMH With Button Top (rechargable C) $5.00 per each
1.2V/2.2Ah D NiMH With Button Top (rechargable D) $5.00 per each
Most of the rechargable “D” batteries I’ve found have been d*mn near $10.00 a piece. This is the best deal I’ve found on them even without a discount. But it can’t hurt to ask, right?
The website is a bit confusing to navigate, from the home page, click “shop online” on the left of the page. Then, again on the left of the page, click “NiCd & NiMH Cells”. Then click “Button Top”. That list that pulls up is a good place to start looking.
If any of ya are interested in buying from www.rdbatteries.com and wanna try to get a discount code like we did with MREDEPOT let me know here. I personally don’t think it would be unreasonable to expect to get a 20%discount.
the prices you list seem rather high. on my brothers advice and further investigation I used batteryspace.com and got this deal
24 Pcs AA 2500mAh High Capacity NiMH Batteries w. 6 battery holders Part#: MH-AA2500APZx24 Manufacturer Part#: 0 (Qty: 1 x $26.98)
How about asking for the same 21% discount that mredepot gives us with the code word fluwikie. We need all sizes of NiMH batteries.
So maybe we could get a group discount deal from batteryspace.com.
Here is where I went. They sell cases of 100 aa and aaa wicked cheap. 9v are in a 12 pack FYE.com (usually sell cd’s) go to the main page and search these cat #’s 201974313 and 201935443 and 203369507. Maybe we could get a bulk buy from them? I already bought several 100 batteries so I’m good but if I can help out….. Oh and they are brand name alkaline batteries not knockoffs.
it was explained to me that there are a lot of rechargeable battery “knockoffs” coming out of china… ebay prices reflect that.
since my sibling had used these guys and the chinese guys… he seemed to know what he was saying
it would be nice to get some of the electrical guys here to check out these sites and others and give us their thoughts.
By the way if you buy a higher end recharger you can recharge alkaline batteries. They wont last 100′s of times but you can stretch them easily 10x. I can personally attest that its possible and I have done it for years, you need a charger that monitors the charge and changes the level appropriately.
I thought that fye.com had some great deals, and ordered a few months ago, but never received my order. They kept sending emails saying they were ‘workin’ on it, but then I got one saying they didn’t know when the battery deal would be available — I’d ordered standard D, C, AA, and AAA by the case so I just left the order standing and now I don’t even get emails about it.
Maybe they’ve done better recently, but I wouldn’t know.
I’m willing to buy into a decent discount — I don’t have ANY rechargeable ones and need some now that I’ve got my solar charger. And I’m always game for more regular batteries — AND I still haven’t bought a replacement for my Brinkmann solar lanterns — had some other expenses come up that needed urgent attention.
Let me add that it might not hurt to have 2–3 battery sites where we can get discounts since some places may ship overseas and others may not, or at least we might find it cheaper to shop from a company on ‘our’ side of the Mississippi for better shipping rates. Just a thought.
I just went to batteryspace.com and did some looking around. While the prices are cheaper, the batteries sold there are not name brand. I called hubby at work and asked him about the “powerizer” brand and he said he’d never heard of them. I gave him a run down of the mAhs on the D sized rechargables and he can’t beleive that a D cell battery can have 10000 mAh and believes the ratings are inflated.
Now, keep in mind that I know NOTHING about this stuff. But I will say, though I’ll never admit it to HIM, that my hubby is ALMOST as smart as he THINKS he is. So I tend to beleive him. I can try to get a discount through this www.batteryspace.com if others are interested, however I’ll personally stick with the duracell and energizer batteries from www.rdbatteries.com
Just talked to hubby again, and he called www.rdbatteries.com and talked to them. They said that they might be willing to give as much as a 25% discount.
wow thats weird with fye, my order showed up in 2 weeks no prob. I actually placed another order today before the rush.
whatever you do make sure you dont buy the old style dry cell batteries. These are non-alkaline and wont last long in your device at all. Personally if its something im trusting my life to its lithium all the way for example my miox, rifle scope, and smoke detector.
whatever makes ya happy :-) after reading about these I wished I’d have picked some of them up to
http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=709
the rdbatteries is a sweet deal if you are buying lithium or “weird” batteries.
I would be very interested in a group buy on batteries, all sizes NiMH.
I just went to consumer reports to get the poop on batteries…
They have a great article about rechargeables -vs- disposables and NiMH -vs- NiOH. Lots of info. Wish I knew how to make this link active… not that savvy with poting yet but I will learn sooner or probably later anyway here is the link to the article.
well… It IS active anyway. Im so smrt and stuff!
Ok folks,
I just sent an email to www.batteryspace.com Explained how well the fluwiki-ians did with the www.mredepot.com sales estimate, and invited them to come to the forums. I’ll let you know if I get a response back.
I would love to be part of this buy. Thanks for the work.
FWIW, I would also like to find a high amp hour batt for my cpap, I am talking huge here, not 20 or so, I would love to find a 100+ amp hour batt that will not gas out, AGM? I think.
I am looking for most all sizes of rechargables.
Have a great day
Count me in for a group buy, AA, AAA, D and C rechargeable batteries. I would preferr to buy Brand Name such as the ones offered on
I have a solar recharger but am clueless on batteries. Can these be stored till needed or will they lose power?
Normal batteries like alkaline and lithium will store for 10 years plus no problem. In the refrigerator will let them store even longer. The rechargeable ones will loose their charge rather quickly if you try and store them. Just recharge them or have some alkaline backups.
Count me in for a group buy on NiMH batteries, AA, AAA, C, D.
I am also interested in a group buy for larger wet-cell lead acid deep cycle batteries in the DC metro area; I am in the market for up to 40 each 400 AH 6 volt batteries.
This is a buy I would love to be in on. I am very short on the batteries that I think I will need. I have a plug in and a solar charger,,, I need to learn what kind of batteries are the best for each use.
I am also interested in name brand NiMH in all sizes.
what do you all think about splitting this topic into two? One for www.batteryspace.com and another for www.rdbatteries.net ?
Can we get a discount on the solar charger too?
Refrigerator??? ah oh…..I put mine in the freezer — have I ruined ‘em??????
NJ. Preppie – at 14:34
I would try to get a discount code good on anything purchased from the website like FPISC managed to do with MRE.
I’ve yet to hear anything from www.batteryspace.com I’ll let everyone know when I do.
they can crack or burst in the freezer due to expansion and contraction of materials. If they dont leak when thawed they should be fine.
Does anyone make rechargeable 123A batteries?
Here is the information for CR123A batteries. We have rechargeable CR123A and non-rechargeable CR123A. http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=PRODSEARCH&txtSearch=cr123a
Still haven’t heard back from www.batteryspace.com
I’m going to email www.rdbatteries.net today and follow up on my husbands phone call from yesterday. I’ll be inviting them to come to the forum also.
I’ll let you all know what I find out.
Jasmine’s link at 19:22 to batteryspace shows a lot of different kinds of batterys — it would be good to firm up a deal with them too.
Jasmine - at 19:22
Are you from www.batteryspace.com ? If so WELCOME to our community glad you came! As you can see there is considerable interest here for making a deal with your company. I hope you’ll also read the thread here about our deal with www.mredepot.com
http://www.fluwikie2.com/pmwiki.php?n=Forum.JoinInWithGroupBuyingForCannedButterCheeseAndMREsII
Thank you, and again, welcome.
I too would be very interested in a goup battery bauy - at eather site!
I too would be very interested in a group battery buy - at either site!
Just for clarification, rechargeable batteries (NiMh) require periodic maintenance to keep them in good shape. They should not be allowed to completely discharge as this drastically shortens the lifespan of the battery. I suggest that you purchase a decent battery charger that displays the charge level of the battery for testing and maintenance purposes. I also shopped until I found this one that is powered not only by AC, but also DC current.
Alkaline batteries can be stored away at room temperature for years and still be useable with no upkeep. It is a good idea to stock a sufficent quantity of both kinds
Hi I am Jasmine from www.batteryspace.com. Thanks for W. Collins who invites me to come here. Let me answer some questions about batteryspace.com
First brand name vs quality. I admit that Powerzier(our brand name) is not as popular as Sony, Engerizer… The big companies post advertising for many years and anywhere. Compare to them, batteryspace.com set up just few years ago. That’s one of the reasons we can keep our price low. We provide good quality batteries and excellent customer services. You can see from our ebay store(ebay ID: all-batteries) feed back http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=all-batteries&ssPageName=STRK:ME:UFS
Discount I think the number of the percentage off is just for customer to feel better, when I do the shopping, I compare the final price after the discount. On batteryspace.com, there is dicount level, basically, when you buy more, you will get more discount. Besides, there is extra 5% discount code ‘fluwiki5′ which you can use at check out.
If you have any question, you can send us an email to sales@batteryspace.com
Thanks,
Jasmine
Jasmine, thanks for posting, glad you’re here!!!!
…..tell me, do you manufacture batteries? I’ve always heard that food manufacturers put the same name brand foods into cans and just label it with store brand labels…..I assume that’s accurate but it may not be. BUT would you know if that’s the same for battery manufacturers? Are your brand names the exact battery that Energizer sells for instance??
I’ve been VERY happy with MaHa charger/conditioners.
http://www.mahaenergy.com/store/Index.asp
Even with cheap import Nimh batteries, the chargers work very, very well.
We condition ALL of our rechargeables at the fire station with Maha chargers/conditioners.
Most of the imported Chinese batteries are made in only one or two factories, no matter what the paper on the outside says, so it’s basically the same battery.
So Jasmine, are your batteries imports from China or Taiwan or ???
I would be interested in rechargeable CR123’s and Lithium AA cells.
Thanks
Thank you Jasmine for posting. And I second the question about where the batteries come from.
I’m still talking to www.rdbatteries.net I’ll let you know when I find out something.
Hi :>} I’m very interested in a discount on batteries as well. Thank you so much for doing the legwork on this! I hope you’re able to work something out. Good luck!! :>}
{{http://www.mcminone.com/category.asp?catalog%5Fname=MCMProducts&category%5Fname=3831225&Page=1|Here]] is another company I can reccommend. They have good prices, a quality product, and prompt shipping.
oops…luckily I didn’t cause the dreaded sidescroll.
Answers to ‘I’m-workin’-on-it’: Normally manufactures will put the labels according to buy’s requirements. So we use our brand name and I don’t know what else labels the manufactures produce. As I understand, brand name is for marketing and it is easy for customer to remember them.
Answers to ‘Bird Guano’: Yes, our batteries are import from China. Rechargeable CR123A : http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=PRODSEARCH&txtSearch=rcr123a Lithium AA: http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1506
Thanks,
Jasmine
I’ve found the following site http://tinyurl.com/y3ghte great for a lot of prep supplies;

Solar Battery Charger http://tinyurl.com/7bosd

Bumping this up and waiting for a post from— Carrey in VA—
Hey - can someone direct me to the solar battery charger and rechargable batteries for dummies section? I really know nothing about rechargable batteries. NiCD or MH - which are better? What’s the difference? With rechargables, do you let them completely run out of juice & then recharge or don;t let them? I am not even having good luck with my wind up flashlights and radio this month…. not holdoing a charge. ugh.
amak – at 14:36
Here is one place to start.
Great guys! I just did some buying at MREDepot and now its on to batteries and rechargers. This is really helping with the prepping I was stalling on doing! I’m energized! ha ha :)
:-) funny!!
FYI, Aldi has batteries on sale this week: http://tinyurl.com/yl9wnq
whats the word on this? Do we have a good group price yet?
Thanks,
Bumping.
I’ve just sent another email to www.rdbatteries.net this morning. I’m afraid my first email must have got eaten in cyber space somewhere. I’ve invited Mike from rdbatteries to join us here on the forums, also.
This thread is stating that it’s about a GROUP BUY but we’ve digressed into a thread that’s listing where we’re finding good deals on any kind of battery — I wish we could keep this one focused on GROUP buy and not on battery sales — there will be lots and lots of battery sites that have great deals, but do not fall into what IMHO would be considered worthy of being called a GROUP buy. FPISC set the standard for what I, for one, am looking for in a group buy and that’s someone with a set agrement with us to do something beyond the great deals they’re offering to every person that hits their site.
Can you start a thread for great deals on batteries & post those deals there & have someone, Carrey in VA for instance, work diligently on getting one or two of the BEST sites — the ones with the most diverse products or whatever the criteria — to work with us on using our GROUP buying power to help them and us out? Carrey I appreciate you working with rdbatteries.net — best of success with them!
well, I started a separate thread for battery discussion and links.
Carrey in VA at 7:44
still waiting patiently…. no rush just my sanity at stake.
:)
Thanks for the update yesterday.
ChuckE, I know, I feel the same way. I am disapointed that I haven’t heard from RDBatteries by now also. After what my hubby told me about the phone call he had with them, I was excited that they would be receptive to a deal. I’ll ask hubby to call again tomorrow and see what is up.
Really would like a deal from RDBatteries….. I am still waiting as I suspect many others are too. I really don’t want to buy inferior batteries that my life may depend on. Let me know if you have made any progress Carrey in VA.
:)
that’s all just Bump.
I’m sorry to report I have not heard anything from www.rdbatteries.net as of yet. My 4 kiddo’s and I are in the process of getting ready for a 12 hour trip to Indiana for a week. We are leaving Friday, and I’m afraid I won’t have time to confer with rdbatteries untill I get home.
If anyone else wants to take the plunge and write them please do. Maybe if more folks were asking it would help. Hubby has been really busy at work covering for a sick co-worker and hasn’t had time to call during business hours. Any help from the flu-wikians would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, and someone make sure to tell H5N1 that it can’t go pandemic till I get home safe and sound!! LOL
I stopped waiting I already put in my orders and received them from other companies weeks ago. Take that rdbatteries!
Carrey in VA – at 11:43 travel safely and have fun
Carrey in VA Are you back from vacation yet? and if so any word from RDbatteries? If not I am going to have ot go the way that annoyed max did.
