I heard the first PSA here in Phoenix about being “ready to go or ready to stay”. The approach of the ad was to point out that disasters can come at any time, whether natural or man made, and citizens need to be ready to be “on your own” for three days or three weeks. The text was accompanied by appropriately serious and spooky music.

It looks like the local talk station (KFYI 550 am) is running these ads at the top of the hour.

Are you hearing similar announcements, fellow wikians?

I hear announcements every evening on the local talk radio channel KNST. So far they have all been the same; one for individuals, saying to be prepared for any emergency, have your children know where to meet, and refers to getready.gov website. The other, for businesses; same information, and same referral to Gov. website. (Always sounded more like a “get ready for a terrorist strike” than panflu announcement…yours sounds a little more like pandemic type of preparation) Maybe we’ll be hearing those ads soon, too.

What I haven’t heard is anything as specific as you’ve mentioned (being on your own for days or weeks). Sounds like a good announcement, but a little scary, too, as that’s the first I’ve heard of any like that in Arizona.

By the way, I live in Tucson….hey neighbor! :)

Here is the website referenced in the ad. I just started looking at it, and will give details later (hard to concentrate while Philly is demolishing GB!)
