I’m in coastal SC, Lowcountry.
I am prepped. My parents are prepped. We are the only ones that I know that are. It’s a sad thing to watch. I have found so many people think that I am asking about West Nile Virus when I ask them if they are paying attention to Bird Flu. I got so frustrated that I quit asking.
Ricewiki and Sophia, you aren’t alone. I’m here in Columbia and prepped for a couple of months. One of the nice things about having a prep closet is that I now only shop sales and therefore I think I am saving money. My doctor prescribed one round of tamiflu for me when I asked her and also gave me a prescription for symmetrol (amantadine)90 pills. So I feel pretty good about my doctor. I have a 15 year old so I would use the tamiflu for her and hope to get another script the next time I go in for something. My doctor didn’t laugh at me - I think she was proud of me for wanting to be prepared. The bad news for you is that I am the only person I know who is taking this seriously and is stocked up. I have tried to talk to co-workers but they laughed so quit talking about it at work. Perhaps the upcoming movie in May will get attention and others will start. I’ve bought some food, masks and gloves for other family members since I knew they wouldn’t get them on their own. CG
HI, I live in SC,near the coast. We have about 4 months stock of food, water will not be a problem, we have a deep and a shallow well. My biggest concern (after food and water) was security. We have purchased magnetic alarms, battery powered motion sensor alarms and solar powered motion activated night lights. I cannot get anyone else to listen either. My husband just goes along with me because he has to. (If it were him I would go along with him also.) He said he cannot believe God would allow something that bad to happen to America. I reminded him of his grandfathers death from Spanish Flu and that it almost took his fathers life as well. I have completely run out of space and I am waiting for winter to buy more and store it in the attic. If we do not have BF by next summer I will donate it to good will.
Oh Happy Day!!! I too live in the low country and am thrilled to see others. I have been quietly educating my friends who are open minded and understand this is a real threat. They are a very small group. One good thing is that the city planners and and local business leaders have held a few planning sessions but have not been very public about it. Trident has also advd their staff they will be receiving a Pandemic protocol in the next few weeks. Glad to hear from ya’ll. LOL I’d love to know of any good buys around area.
