I would like to get something motorized, gas-powered. I am thinking of a small (but not mini) dirt bike with the big knobby tires for rough terrain. I would like it small enough so I could lift it into the back of a pickup. (I could lift 100 lbs.). I want something reliable, rugged, a good long track record. And don’t want to spend a fortune. Any ideas? Break the parameters of my qualifications, if you think you have some better ideas or if it stretches my limits a bit.

I want something easily concealable, if I have to go out foraging.

thoughts: gas engines = loud, need fuel, >100lbs electric = quiet, not powerful enough for real aggressive terrain carrying (load) cappacity?

A small 125cc enduro (Honda, Yamaha) are very dependable/capable, good MPG, fairly quiet. Carrying capacity will be basically limited to backpack capacity.

I can’t believe YOU will be out foraging!

MAV in Colorado-Thanks for the tip. I will google the models.

I should have said “Hunting”. I’ll want to get some fresh meat (if it is not tainted by whatever panflu is prevalent). It would also be handy for fishing forays, too. And the roads may be blocked.

Don’t know if they make them anymore, but the Honda Trail 90 is exactly what you are describing.

HB: I was even thinking of that old Honda trail 70. Compact, quiet, light

apparently they still make a 70cc?!

backtrack to his main page for some real nostalgia (I started on the 50 then wert to a big Hodaka “Super Rat” 100) LOL

Mav in Colorado at 16:59-Ha! I found the same site just about the same time you did. We are all working off the same library these days (google). I will check the pricing tomorrow. That is exactly what I wanted. Thank you all.

Turn your bike into a gasoline powered assist with https://www.revopower.com/ 200 mpg

Or convert it to an electric assist with http://www.zapworld.com/products/dxkit_bike.asp and need no gas whatsoever.

Feed it with biodiesel and you have something we might want even if there’s no pandemic.

Which is a great strategy, ain’t it?

Will – at 22:33

Actually, a velomobile gets closer to the target for me. No need for fuel, unless you opt for an additional electric drive.

…which can be replenished by one’s solar array, etc.
