Someone else had posted this but its lost in another thread. I found it quite useful. You should call and ask first if you want the pneumo shot as not all sites are offering it. If anyone should give you grief about not being high risk just say you have asthma.

In the US, one can find flu clinics through the American Lung Association flu clinic locator at

The notes may or may not say if the Pneumovax is available at a given location.

Also note that many clinics either don’t do children under 9 or even under 18. Likely you’ll have to go to your ped for it.

AT my local Winn-Dixie today, there was a flu-shot clinic from 11–2. At 11:15 there was almost a fight with numerous people there to obtain their shots. It wasn’t very organized in the beginning and then people got frustrated and angry, and started yelling at each other, my DH and DS and myself were going to get one but I will wait till next clinic 10–17. I went ahead and did my grocery shopping for the week and was truly amazed at the attitude of people, a small glimpse into a full fledge panic on a much smaller scale today, what do you think?

Check the County Health Dept. website in your area for dates and locations of flu and pneumonia vaccinations. If you are not in a risk category, you can still get vaccinated at your doctor or pediatrician’s office, but you will self pay. The county health dept. vaccinations will be much cheaper, and is available for anyone over 9 years. Get both for your whole family.
