They are too vague. I think it’s going to take something a lot more hardhitting to get the general public’s attention.
(This is from someone who has taught drug-prevention courses for a decade. Strong anti-drug PSAs like the fried egg in the skillet actually worked. Cities that broadcasted these had less teen drug usage.)
How about this:
VO: This is you (Shows an average American family, well dressed, slightly overweight, happy, maybe the kids have some sports equipment.)
New scene VO: This is you without preps (Shows same family, scraggily dressed, bad hair, less 20–30lbs each, their belongings in plastic shopping bags. Pull back to reveal teeming refugee camp with armed national guards.)
Just kidding! They’d never do it! (But it’s what I see when I think about it.)

I wonder if they are going to gradually become more specific? Like, “Can your family weather a 2 year event of biblical proportions? Don’t forget your pets!”
The angel commercial being in another language is really starting to bother me. That would be just my luck! I make it to heaven but can’t understand a damn thing anybody is saying!

Failing to prepare the public is planning the public to fail’
- can’t get them to properly become more resiliant before their first pandemic influenza year starts if you refuse to disclose to them what they are suppose to be preparing for.
The people in charge are busy setting the stage for the very worst they supposedly fear and want to prevent.

I went to the Ready website - tried a search for pandemic or bird flu and the ONLY link that comes up is for HIV/AIDS pandemic. Not encouraging.
And I agree ref a translation for the ad with the angels! Would really like to know what that says.
In general though these are clever to begin planting seeds of thought - perhaps they will escalate over time. You know, think of the masses as kids, and increase the lesson as their ability to process is tuned. Great - at least a beginning. Let’s HOPE it gets more intense in time for action to be stimulated to a degree that has an impact.
Look again LEG at the READY website; they have quite a bit, softpeddled though, about an influenza pandemic. I think it’s all under “Biological threat” or something like that. Reading through the READY stuff made me feel quite a bit less “weird” about prepping… they are recommending a lot of the stuff I’m already doing.
