Ok, we’re all probably putting SOMEthing on a tree these days, no matter what we call it….so let’s pretend we’re trimming our fluwikiE tree.
I’m going to fill laytex gloves with birdseed, seal them shut, add ribbon & mark it as reindeer food to hang on the tree!
Who else has an “ornament” that’s flu-related and what are we going to put on the TOP of the tree?? How ‘bout solar powered strings of lights?
LOL I’m-workin’-on-it, I love it!
I think we should make old fashioned edible garland out of popcorn and dried berries, good to have extra snacks if need be:-)
But your idea is much more imaginative!
hehehe….I think I’ll use food coloring and dye some cooked rice, then glue it onto cardboard (using my empty oatmeal boxes) and make mosiacs!
Someone’s bound to use the partridge in a pear tree song & come up with some ornaments…..who’s willing to give it a try?
Well that would certainly be appropriate, there are ALOT of birds in that song after all:-)
On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me… a course of Tamiflu in a pine tree…(maybe little ‘faux’ boxes of Tamiflu with a festive bow to hang it from?)
On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
two boxes of rubber gloves and a course of Tamiflu in a pine tree…(you’ve got the rubber glove one solved already:-)
the rhyme’s not just right out loud, but hey- I’m sure someone else can do better:-)
I’ll be back later with more, gotta get my kids off to bed soon…
Doesn’t matter what kind of tree it will be, I can guarantee it will have a cat in it.
At MY house it will — a 15 lb one or two…that’s why we have to tie our tree to hooks in the wall of the corner where it resides — it’s 12′ artificial.
Yeah, ours is artificial, too. The husband had to wire the light strands to the lower branches because one or the other cats kept pulling the lights off the branches.
Today we came out and one of the branches had been pulled from the tree and a half dozen ornaments were strewn about the room.
Christmas trees=kitty Disneyland
Oh my Texas Rose, I hope you take pictures of these funny things…..someday they won’t be there with you & the pics of their handiwork will help with memories.
They wait for us to go to bed and then start in…
Today’s damage: A half dozen ornaments strewn about the family room(one was in front of the fireplace), one bow destroyed, one package requiring rewrap, and bits of one of those curly ribbon bows lying about like the darned thing had been eviscerated. They even had paths formed between packages to make access to the back of the tree easier for them.
No wonder they’re hungry in the morning. They’re up all night, playing in their playground.LOL
At least they know how to burn calories! :-)
Our new cat that adopted us through the back door has this desire to chew on long grassy shoots in all my artificial flower arrangements. I had one big one that looks like cut flowers, and I had to remove the grassy stuff that made it look softened and full because I didn’t want the stuff puncturing little boy’s intestines! When I brought out a large sled that goes on the coffeetable, it had huge pine boughs with pine cones, and next thing you know little fella’s chewing on those too, so out they came! Sigh. They have us so trained don’t they!??
.
We have one cat which likes to eat raffia, which, alas, doesn’t agree with him. We tend to discover the raffia after it’s made an encore reappearance somewhere inconvenient.
As for being trained, there’s a saying that cats don’t have owners, they have staff(us).:D
I haven’t decorated a pandemic tree but I have been shopping for gifts with an eye towards useful items. Found a small multipurpose tool that the husband can put on his keychain that I thought might be handy.
Good one Texas Rose — the tool for your DH that is!
I know what you mean about finding recycled ‘things’ from the cats’ bellies where I least expect to find them!
The patterned oriental rug always seems to hide the latest — moistest — surprises! You’d think it would make me quit going barefoot!
I had two xmas suprises. Once when I dug up a pine tree and a hugh moth hatched. Animals had a great time chasing it down. The other catastrophe. Real gingerbread hearts and men. I had put a lot of ginger and spice in the batter, but it didn’t stop 2 dogs and 2 cats from demolishing the tree one nite. Having anything remotely edible on your tree is not a good idea.
Diana, that’s so funny! Your furkids must think that the tree you picked this year is the best yet!!!
I saw a funny card in Hallmark the other day…..dog watching owner drag a tree into the living room & dog is thinking, “Finally! Indoor plumbing!”
Can you believe Hallmark made that card? :-)
They also made one (which I sent to someone with a new car) that showed Santa’s reindeer flying overhead saying “bombs away”. I had to send a second very gorgeous ,glittery and smaltzy card to soothe wounded feelings.I thought it was hysterical, my friend didn’t.It really was in very, very poor taste, and I’m usually the soul of discretion. We all have our lapses in good judgement.
(This is what happens when things are too quiet,) we get a little rambunctious.
Well, it’s like we’re padding around in our fuzzy slippers & someone comes to the door without calling first — they can expect to find Hallmark’s Maxine!
Frankly, I’m glad for the quiet…lord only knows when I get rushed how many faux pas I make!
